My husband treatment and experience at GVO Lounge & Bistro on March 17th 2024 was uncalled for. This Manager Danny Lewis abused his power.
My husband's testimony.
GVO Lounge & Bistro needs to fire manager and certain staff. They’re incapable of managing and serving at any establishment, they’re unprofessional, and their security team is irresponsible at best.
Time of incident 7:30PM March 17th.
Tonight I was at GVO in Dallas. Toward the end of my night, I walked to the opposite end of the bar from where I was sitting to buy a friend a shot for her birthday. While at the bar, I tried to get the bartender’s attention several times as she was standing behind the register just looking around. While she looked in my direction, I gave my order (it was not acknowledged). Few moments later she walks in front of me again, and I said “excuse me miss, can I have a henny lemonade?”. Again no response. She comes back around and rolled her eyes at me twice, and I laughed. I placed my order yet again, and she rolled her eyes again saying ‘I heard you the first time’, and rolled her eyes another time. She started yelling over the bar telling “I heard you the first time you should’ve known that”. At this point I’m annoyed because I didn’t speak to her with no disrespect whatsoever. I repeatedly said ma’am because she never acknowledged that she heard me. I told the bartender to ask her co worker to ring me up because was done dealing with her. The bartender rolled her eyes again and said whatever. I paid my tab and walked back to my side of the bar. When I got there, I told my lady what happened and she suggested I called the manager.
So we call him and he comes over. I tried to tell him what was going on and he was not trying to listen. He cut me off every chance he got, he told me “I’m the manager here, you listen to me”. I said, you manage this bar, you don’t manage me. I paid to come here, not to be disrespected. As soon as I said that, he signaled to security (Ben) who was standing to my left, to put me out. He grabs me and I resisted because I gave them no reason to use force. Then 2 more guys come up from the side to grab me..then a 4th guy behind me trying push me out grabs my jacket off and they all slam me onto the table of the friend which whom I had brought the drink for. Then all four men of them drag me out and throw me to the ground, where I then landed on (Ben) the first guy who had grabbed me and quickly got up off him with my hands up. Nina was a guard standing outside who witnessed me being thrown out and she admitted I was not drunk, belligerent, or a threat. They definitely used excessive force which was completely unnecessary and uncalled for.
I have a video where the manager (Danny Lewis) says no one was the aggressor. He felt he was spoken disrespectfully, and that was why (he had 4 guys) “put me out.” He was upset that I told him I was a paying customer and unsatisfied with the service. I would’ve gladly left without incident. He also lied to me and my lady several times saying she’d been sent home. The picture was taken of the bartender (3 hours later) and she was still behind the bar serving.
I have a photo of the bartender (name unknown) who started this issue and lied about what was said to her is pictured.
“The Corner LLC” who seems to be the parent company (according to the Secretary of State database)
The police were called and never showed up. I waited 3 hours and then left, my lady stayed behind until after 11PM and called several times. No one was ever dispatched.
My hope is this never happens to ANYONE again without just...
Read moreI went to this establishment on Saturday evening around 5 or 6 pm. I've been here before so I knew what to expect food, service & crowd wise. Never had any issues...always a good time until this past Saturday. Me & my friend approached GVO to hang out with her dad & another friend of ours that was currently at GVO. When I entered there were two lady's sitting at the front I'm assuming to collect entry. Now this WAS my first time being at this bar & they required a fee for entry. So I immediately asked why was there a charge? Was there someone famous here? Because if so I could understand that. The lady was very dismissive & rude. Did not have a welcoming demeanor at all. She ignored me so I turned to the lady sitting next to her to ask the same thing because she seemed a bit more welcoming. However she was dealing with someone else, so I stepped to the side with my friend to discuss further if it was worth paying the $20. Why? Because I didn't want to pay $20 to be there for an hour or two. Mind you! There is not a line. The place was crowded but it wasn't packed & the traffic outside the door was no wait. In the span of maybe 5 min we decide we are gonna stay & pay. As I'm approaching the lady again to pay this time & unlock my card. I'm being asked to step outside and now I'm confused bc why? So once I was trying to figure out why I'm being asked to step outside the security then grabs me & forces me outside. It became a whole big ordeal. I have scratches on my back, knees & arms from where he tried to toss me & I clenched onto him so I wouldn't fall. I called the police along with 2 other ppl who were with me. But the police took forever to come I mean I waited a good 2 hours. To the point where i decided to leave but it's not over. I have pictures, witnesses & I've filled a statement with the police department. I should've never been handle like that being a women and I was showing no aggression never raised my hand to hit anyone. Just stood my ground to try and figure out why I'm being kicked out & I was ready to pay! I have the right to figure out whether or not I want to go inside of an establishment & pay my money. It has nothing to do with being "broke" or being "rude" especially when you are willing to actually spend a tab there. Lastly, the owner was there he tried to calm the situation down but he didn't do enough for me. The security never gave me an apology which is disgusting considering im 5"6 160lbs & he was basically a linebacker size. So yea that was my experience at GVO lounge. The security likes to man handle women with a...
Read moreRecently went to GVO for the first time Friday and never again. The host asked if we wanted to purchase a table or sit at the bar, decided to sit at the bar.. the bar was tiny and they had a whole side without chairs to provide even less free seating… thankful me and my man were able to scrounge up the last two empty seats and sit on the corner of the bar. My main focus that night was hookah.. the bartender was attentive and told me I would have go outside to order it basically risking losing my seat had my man not been there to guard it. I go outside and the girl selling the hookah was rude asf .. short -lightskinned girl. I asked for a single hookah she was like Med or Large? .. i was like its just me and one other person I just need a small one, she snapped and said “we’re out of smalls” .. i asked the pricing and she said $41 for a med, $51 for a large. I walked away without ordering but ended up coming back later for a medium and it ended up being $51!! .. I ordered a cherry vodka sour and the bartender used McCormick vodka and charged me $10 with a straight face. I looked on the menu of their liquor list online and saw titos was $11 so i asked the bartender if she could switch it out for Titos, another bartender apologized saying the bartender that poured my drink, forgot that the drinks were on special for $5 til 9pm so because i was charged for two I would get a second round .. they also switched the vodka out for titos. By that time little Miss Attitude brought out the hookah and was smiling from ear to ear at my boyfriend even laughing saying “oh here you go” and placing it in front of him despite the fact I placed the order .. smh!! .. after all that the night went smoothly, the hookah ill admit was good and smooth & the vibes were great .. we enjoyed ourselves .. but as mentioned we wont return because clearly the name of the game is to get over...
