Ronnie's Catfish & More — Restaurant in Dallas

My husband likes this place and suggested it because I wanted fish. Unfortunately it's a NO for me. This is my first AND last time patronizing this place, and surprisingly my husband, your loyal customer was disappointed as well. The girl, Gwen who was taking orders, was having a bad day; therefore, quite rude. My husband literally had to ask her to come closer to the window because she was asking his order from a back corner. Not sure if this is normal behavior but when food is not "prepared with love" it usually doesn't taste good. IT DIDN'T! First of all, we ordered 3 fillets with fries and a small salad. The fillets turned out to be fishstrips. The salad turned out to be a few leaves of lettuce topped with a jar of pickles, an unsliced half of tomato, a half jar of jalapeños and some spicy pickled carrots (best thing on the plate). Very dishonest, I waited 30 mins on order, then didn't get 20 pcs. Cld bk girl had funky attitude that took my money. I spent almost $50. For 20 pc fish n 1 Dr. Pepper drink. I am a senior citizen had grand n great grand kids waiting to eat. I trusted they put what I ordered and paid for in bags. So I didn't count fish upon arriving home. I washed up n started fixing plates kids were hungry n they started eating. When I got some of the kids out the way I then saw I didn't have all my order. I was so disappointed 😞 n I was so tired from waiting I couldn't drive bk to south dallas from N W Hwy n ctrl expressway. My advice from a senior citizen. DON'T GO TO RONNIE'S CATFISH ON Second Ave. Go to pleasant Grove location. The fish is good but the customer service is messed up, and unprofessional. My husband and I tried this place for the first time, this past weekend. First, the positives: the food is very good! We both had the 3-fillet and shrimp combo, which came with fries, a few slices of pickles, and a few slices of white bread. Fish had perfect flavor--definitely fresh, and not frozen. Fries were good, and you get a good amount.

The negative, regarding the food is, the "fillets" aren't actually fillets; they're more like large strips, which was a tad disappointing. Also, the shrimp are tiny, with LOTS of breading.

The service isn't the best, nor is it terrible. The gentleman simply takes your order, then call your name when it's ready--not friendly, but not rude. Also, the building isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, nor in the best neighborhood, but those things weren't an issue for us (though it may matter to some). We definitely...
