Let me start by saying I do not love writing negative reviews, but I am writing this with the hopes that it gets to a manager and they do a better job handling the venue, specifically with storms. I have been to this venue twice, and both times it has been an absolute nightmare. Which is extremely frustrating because the venue itself is really great. There are plenty of places for food and drinks, a bunch of merch stands, and it is generally a good vibe. However, the staff and management is completely incompetent. Here were my experiences.
Dos Equis is a "rain or shine" pavilion, yet both shows I went to were cancelled because of rain. Granted, there was lightning both nights, but the management by the venue was garbage. When I saw Lana Del Rey, the communication on when doors would be open, when the show would start, etc, was nowhere to be found. Everyone was left in the dark, with people needing to rush to their seats because they heard the show starting because there was no posted information. The show ended early, and when we left, parking was an absolute nightmare. There was no staff to help with the flow of traffic, so it took us about an hour to even get out of out parking SPOT. not the lot, the parking SPOT.
Last night's Kesha show was exponentially worse. We sat in the parking lot for hours waiting for updates that were sparsely given. Something especially sleazy we noticed was how they would post updates late and try to write it off as if it were posted earlier. For example, there was an "update" written at 7:15 that we did not see until 7:37. We were checking their Instagram constantly, if it was truly written at 7:15, we would have noticed at 7:15. They also only updated the captions of their Instagram posts, not posting new stories or posts, which seems like a wildly ineffective way to update the thousands of people waiting for updates. They would also turn off the comments, effectively cutting off communication between us and the venue, as well as people inside v outside of the venue. There was a rumor that a lightning strike hit the lawn, and they STILL didn't postpose the event. I do feel bad for the staff, because we also heard that a fight between a member and a security guard broke out, and the staff doesn't deserve that. However, when we are left in the dark with no source of effective communication (even the text messages were extremely sparce) it is no wonder people were angry. At 8:40, we finally decided to leave, because we knew the event would not happen. It wasn't until 9:20 (2 hours after the show was supposed to start) that they postponed the event to the NEXT DAY. It is a weekday, people have work and they adjusted their schedules to make it to THAT DAY. We cannot just change our plans with less than 24 hour notice. On top of that, we reached out to ticketmaster, and they informed us that the venue has blocked them from giving refunds.
What really gets me is the claims that they "cared about our safety" while allowing us to wait in storms for hours and hours (right after Texas just had deadly floods, and there was a flood warning issued in Dallas). If you cared about our safety, you would have postponed the show earlier in the night and offered refunds to people who cant make it. Granted, I do believe we will end up being able to get a refund, and I will update this comment if we can or can't (we are still trying to resolve it). Once again, I am hoping a manager sees this and does a complete rehaul on their policy for bad weather. It is a complete mess and wildly ineffective. I am sure there are people leaving nasty reviews simply because of their disappointment that they didn't get to see Kesha, and while I am disappointed as well, I am more disappointed that both times I have been to Dos Equis, it has been the worst concertgoing experience and wildly mismanaged....
Read moreI waited months to see Kesha, extremely excited. I wait in line (7/8/25) for an hour and a half in the POURING rain. Wind, roads covered in inches of water by the drains. Staff would not communicate with us at all. I witnessed a man have a seizure on the wet pavement in front of me. Patrons were more helpful to cover him from the storm than staff was. They didn’t seem to do much other than take a very long time to get a wheelchair. Then they proceed to yell at us for standing in the way of cars when we’re trying to shelter from rain while still staying in line. NO staff member would nicely direct us or update us. They stayed on their golf cart and yelled. We ubered so we could not “shelter in our car”. We had to walk to McDonalds (20-35 minutes in the pouring rain) and have someone pick us up. My shoes were puddles, it was freezing cold, and felt very defeated. THEN after my 30 minute drive home and an extra 30 minutes of being home they finally cancel the show. They then say the concert is rescheduled for today. Great. Checking the weather nonstop. Seems fine. Suddenly in the middle of the first act it rains AGAIN. We all are forced off of the lawn despite it being “rain or shine”. We are forced to sit in seats or shelter in the bathrooms. The seats they had some of us sit in were not covered and we were still rained on so it made no real difference if we were in the lawn or not. After no communication in 10 minutes and MORE rude staff yelling we leave AGAIN. Checking comments constantly. No one is getting communication. Then TWENTY MINUTES AGO (an hour and a half after the rain starts) they finally say one of the acts was canceled and Kesha will go on shortly. I’ve wanted to see Kesha since I was 10 years and l’m in my mid twenties now. Due to the horrible treatment and lack of communication of the venue I left and unfortunately will not be able to see her. I was not going to go through the torment of standing in the rain for another few hours. It is NOT RAIN OR SHINE. They made people STAND in the rain for HOURS two days in a row. No full show, one act cut in half, one act cut completely, and Kesha coming on within minutes of them finally saying the show wasn’t cancelled. The weather system is so inaccurate it is impossible to know when the venue will be open and running. Go to South Side Ballroom or Dickies. If your favorite artist is playing here and you just have to attend godspeed and I hope what happened to me the past two days doesn’t happen to you. Genuinely the worst concert experience I’ve ever had. Dos Equis does not care...
Read moreIf you've been to Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion in the Woodlands, TX, then you've been to the Dos Equis Pavillion. A few things that I really liked were things that I sprang extra for. Skipping the line and going through the Live Nation VIP Lounge was awesome. The seating was super comfy, it was extremely clean, and the bathrooms were super stocked (we're talking bug spray, perfume, feminine hygiene, and deoderant)! Getting merchandise in the Lounge vs. the merch booths was also pretty nice. If you can add to your ticket, I would highly recommend it! If you're hungry, the food is kind of expensive but comes out fairly quickly. Inside the actual venue, they have a huge selection of food vendors to choose from, plenty of bathrooms, and places to sit when waiting for the next show to go on stage. What was disappointing... no cash, card only. If you want to spend your cash, you will need to get a "vanilla card," which is like a prepaid gift card. They do it for you there with no fee. They had Yeti rehydration stations all over. Ideally, you could refill water bottles and cups with free, cold, clean water. Welp, not at this concert. They were turned off completely, and water was roughly $7. The other thing that was disappointing was that part of the staff lost control of the crowd and then themselves. Okay, okay. I get it... Slipknot fans... but still... don't flip out on each other because some fans decided to go over the barrier to get to their seats minutes before Slipknot performed. They were doing what fans do, and at least one of the staff members was still trying to make sure everyone was safe. The other staff member did not need to lose her composure and start yelling at fans AND her co-worker. Lastly, if you get the chance to take an Uber/Lyft to the venue rather than park in a lot, do that! It's about the same as parking at the venue, but you don't have to deal with the absolute traffic jam that occurs. They do not have enough (or any) police, staff, or security direction traffic. It is an absolute cluster mess. We set up our Lyft two hours in advance and had cheap pricing. I set up a Lyft home right as Slipknot went onstage for pickup at llpm (as the show can't go any longer than 1045p). The fare was roughly 20 bucks to get back to where we were staying. All in all, Slipknot was amazing, the venue was "meh" at best, and don't drive yourself there! Still had a blast, still met some really chill people, and still left for home with...
