Iâve been dreading writing this review. My husband and I went for dinner on Sunday. This is our first time eating at Salâs. It was very empty when we walked in. The decor was very nice. The staff members were very nice. Itâs a very odd place as you get to pick wherever you want to sit, and you also order and pay at the counter. When you walk in thereâs a quarter half wall in the way, so you kind of expect to be greeted, but no one ever came to say hello. You have to walk around the wall and ask. The prices were kind of steep, but my husband and I were willing to give it a try. Where we really struggled was enjoying the quality of the food made at Salâs. We had spent literally all morning and afternoon at church. We were starving when we arrived and were really looking forward to some good pizza. Our order consisted of their mozzarella sticks, cheese sticks, a 14 inch NY style pizza (2 toppings), and two drinks. In total $45. I would be shocked if the mozzarella sticks were made fresh as they were the best tasting menu item! With that being said both the cheese sticks and the pizza lacked flavor immensely, and the taste was equivalent to a saltine cracker, and very crunchy. Luckily, the table is set with what I believe was oregano, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Parmesan cheese was available on request. Both of our fountain drinks tasted off, tasted very watered down. I really wanted to enjoy this experience to support locals, but i hate to say I donât think we will be back. One of the staff members at the very end of our dinner, came to our table and asked if we would be willing to write a review, I was already planning on it, but I feel really let down because it wasnât a positive experience and I can tell theyâre really searching...
Read moreWeâd hoped to try what appeared to be a nice hole-in-the-wall pizza place for dinner, but it has turned into an extremely disappointing experience.
We saw good reviews with online ordering and delivery options, so placed an order for one of the specials and desserts to be delivered to us. ETA was 45-60 mins, which is expected for this sort of thing. 1.5 hours later no sign of a delivery and we got a message from their delivery service asking if we got our order. We responded that we hadnât, and the order was cancelled âdue to a miscommunicationâ.
We were given the option to call Salâs âfor more detailsâ and called, but honestly how that call went was the most disappointing part of the whole experience. The man we spoke with was very dismissive and came across as annoyed at us as if we were the ones inconveniencing him⌠from what he said, it just happens often that the delivery service they use has a driver pick up food and just keep it. This seems to happen often enough that it was not exceptional and according to him we were just out of luck. No offer to remake the order for us to pick up. No attempt at all to make it right. So now weâre left hungry and condescended at for our trouble.
At the end of the day, the service they use as part of their business failed. It apparently fails often enough that it was not a surprise. Services can fail and exceptions can happen. I understand that and could forgive it to give them another try. However, the complete lack of empathy or attempt to fix their failure, on top of being spoken to with contempt⌠this is not acceptable.
I am incredibly disappointed with this interaction.
For anyone who still wants to give them a try, buyer beware for using their...
Read moreSince the new owner bought this place approx. a year ago, the place now excels. Salâs is a comfy eatery on Main Street in historic and charming Dallas, Ga. Plenty of parking. Forget the pizza chains. The owner upgraded the ingredients and the New York style pepperoni pizza is mouth watering good at a good price. The garlic knots and buffalo chicken stromboli are excellent. You order and pay at the counter and get your own drinks(free refills). The friendly staff serves you at your table and clean up after you leave. There is a tip jar on the counter. My grand kids just ate Salâs pizzas twice in 4 days. Hunter(11) was kissing his fingers and throwing his hands in the air! Fyi, the ownerâs favorite pizza is the meat stuffed pizza. I am trying this next.
4/15/25 follow up visit
Yesterday 4 of us met for lunch and, as I stated in last review, I wanted to try the stuffed meat pizza. Thankfully all agreed to order a large one and the indispensable garlic knots. It was absolutely delicious! It was covered with a very thin browned crust so there was not too much bread. We ended up taking 3 slices home with a couple of garlic knots. For 4 the bill was $44 with unlimited sodas. I see why that stuffed pizza is a favorite at Sal's. Next time, as a garlic lover, if company allows, I want extra garlic in the stuffed pizza. (not sure if it had garlic due to the knots). That will kick it up to the stratosphere for me. Highly...
