I was excited to finally find an African restaurant to try authentic food. So, before going, I saw different chefs make similar dishes I wanted to try. To my surprise, there wasn't much on the menu at Shuri, so I ordered Egusi soup with pounded yam, and after seeing it being cooked several times, the consistency of what I received was completely different. It was so greasy compared to what I had seen, and it was so hot there was no way to eat it without a spoon. Once it cooled down a bit enough to eat as intended it had no real flavor to it, just a bit spicy. I tried the Jollof rice, and goat. The Jollof rice was very good, but the goat still had skin on it. There was very little meat and, tasted like old and too tough to eat. I only enjoyed the Jollof rice. So for 43.00 I enjoyed rice. The location was very quiet, but I think that it would be better to have African music softly playing than depressing news. When people go to eat they want to enjoy a relaxing atmosphere not listen to negative happenings going on. Unfortunately, after my experience I would not revisit...

Hit & miss! Depending on the day you'll have fresh or not so fresh food.

My last visit wasn't pleasant at all. I placed my order and paid for it upon arrival.

Unfortunately only one older lady was available to take orders at the counter, take orders on the phone, clean tables, bring food out and close the bill! Sadly she wasn't able to keep up with demand alone which resulted in a vulgar back and forth shouting convo between her and a customer wanting to pay for his current bill and togo bill. Which caused 2 other people to start questioning wheres my good?

Meanwhile I've been here 20 mins. I asked about my order...its coming mam. Another 25 mins later my order was ready. Jollof rice, goat meat and plaintain, and one extra jollof! Im really unsure what took soo long. The food wasn't hot, I would say warm.

And she had the nerve to say mam your total is... "Oh no mam I paid you 45 minutes ago!" She'd forgotten. Poor lady.

I would say this food is ok for a bite. I wouldn't recommend to anyone in a hurry. Probably shouldn't recommend at...

Their food is typically always good, I feel like it’s always fresh and that’s why the wait is long. I usually order my food 20-30 min in advance. The other day I did that but got to the Resturant and ended up waiting an extra 45 mins for my food. Because i wasn’t too hungry and had nothing to do, I didn’t mind at FIRST. HOWEVER when the wait is long and you have the cashier lady being rude to you it makes me not want to buy anything from here anymore. She speaks to you in a rude manner, rolls her eyes, doesn’t look at you when u speak to her and hates for you to ask her any questions. She gives you a vibe like you’re bothering her, even just to order your food. This has happened the passed 3 times I’ve been here. I don’t think I’ll be returning back anymore and sadly I’ve been coming here since the day it opened since I only live 2 minutes away. I’m giving two stars because the food is good and the owner herself is very polite and...

Authentic Flavor Explosion! I had the pleasure of dining at this incredible African restaurant, and let me just say—every bite delivered bold, unforgettable flavor. I ordered the goat meat pepper soup, and it was outstanding. The meat was tender and well-seasoned, cooked to perfection with just the right kick of spice that warms your chest without overpowering the palate. I paired it with steamed rice and a side of vegetable soup, which complemented the dish beautifully. The vegetable soup was hearty and flavorful, a perfect balance to the heat of the pepper soup. You can tell the food is made with love and authentic technique. If you’re craving real African cuisine that delivers on taste, this spot does not miss. I’ll definitely be back!

I feel like im not smart enough to review this, strangely enough though I felt Rather intimidated because I was jumping into something that I had Absolutely no idea about. I knew about Fufu (Mashed Yams) and that african food consisted of a lot of firey stews. Which mind you i dont mind spicy, i have Thai friends I eat with a lot but, I have to get them to order for me because he knows I want it Legit and i don't want it toned down for "Americans" Anyways, It didnt dissapoint. I enjoyed the Fufu and stew. The platains looked fried goldem brown. Which was great, i may try something else from the menu one day.

Man, I will give this African restaurant 5 stars. Why? 1) Owners are hella nice and they actually listen to what you're saying like a therapist. 2) The atmosphere is nice and quite which makes you focus on the food even more. 3) Food? Man this is my first time and I had the Jollof Rice with Goat Meat and that dish was 🔥🔥🔥 (don't know if emojis are allowed on my reviews but oh well). 4) The place is hella clean which should be standard for any food place, but this was exceptional. 5) They don't sell beer and liquor but they let us BYOB. Yaaassssss! Emperor Spoo approves and you should check it out...
