This is the family-operated hole-in-the-wall kind of place you've been looking for. The two sisters that run the register are always nice. Prices are surprisingly low for surprisingly great food. The meat is real and recognizable.
The tacos are my go to for a cheap high quality meal (I recommend them with al pastor), and more recently gluten free when I order them on corn tortillas. The burritos are addictive (I recommend them with brisket, double meat, extra cheese, onions, and cilantro). The baked potatoes are generously portioned with great meat (probably brisket is best). The quesadillas will torment a normal person with not wanting to leave any such goodness behind.
This is also our go-to when going to lunch with coworkers. And, it's not uncommon to run into other coworkers while we're there.
If you don't want to take this Gringo's word for it, the place is frequented by a lot of native Mexicans. That's usually a good sign that this family is still keeping it real. There's menudo on Fridays and Saturdays, but I haven't tried it, yet (I intend to).
Pro tips: If you know what you want, you can call ahead and they'll have it waiting for you. Also, 7:30a and around 12:30 are pretty busy, but still worth the trip, if it's the only time you've got. Order beans for fiber to help you stay full longer, otherwise you'll fill up on yummy meat and be...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, it is one of my favorite places to eat. They serve ridiculously large portions of meat. I think it is the tastiest meat you can buy and the prices are very low. The place is locally owned and the employees are always nice and welcoming.
They make everything in front of you and offer a lot of ways to customize your order to make sure everything is just right. You could come here every day for a month and try a new meal each time.
Some of my favorite combinations are the breakfast tacos and burritos with chicken, the lunch burritos with al pastor or barbacoa, the brisket baked potato, the green salsa on anything, and the breakfast sandwich with carnitas...
Read moreI found this restaurant while waiting at Eminent Medical Center. How can you go wrong with the best of both world. Mexican and BBQ food. I order the Brisket Plate, it came with 2 piece of toast, not 1 piece cut into 2, but 2 pieces Texas Toast bread and its buttered and toasted just right. I order french fries and rice. The fries where fresh, crispy, and hot. The rice is the best rice I have ever tasted at any Mexican restaurant wheather it was chain owned or mom and pop owned. Great flavor and tender. The brisket is tender, juicy, full of flavor, and it melted in my mouth. I cant wait to come back to this Mexican BBQ restaurant again when...
