We visited on 07192025 and our food looked nothing like any of the food shown in any of the reviews before this. We arrived about 45 minutes after the restaurant opened. We were greeted promptly and told to sit wherever as the restaurant was empty other than one other patron sitting at the bar. We reviewed the foods listed on the menu, we ordered and ordered. I will say, the portions are pretty decent sized. The Brussels sprouts, nachos and smoked buffalo wings to start. The Brussels sprouts were fried and over sauced ( were okay) the nachos (small size) were okay and as the menu described.. messy, we added the brisket for 4$. The nachos were pretty good until we got through the first layer than everything was wet, soggy and over sauced. The buffalo wings we requested unsauced with the sauce on the side. While they were cooked perfectly, they were seasoned Wayyyy to much ( we as a family love seasoning and flavor) salt over powered the flavor of the wings even after I bathed them in buffalo sauce, as they would have come normally. Regrettably I would not order any of these again. The main entrees, a Salad ( Spring Salad) was large but came missing onr of it's ingredients the parmasean cheese which after asking for it changed the the whole salad and made it better ( why did we have to ask for this.. we were the only diners in the restaurant) The honey drizzled chicken sandwhich was unfortunately bland, slightly dry and the coleslaw on it tasted off. The LightsOut brisket grilled cheese was good (nothing about it really stood out) . The "I can't decide sliders" ( 1 chicken,1 Pork,1 briskett ) were all decent but lacked their own distinguishing flavors. They all tasted the same even though they were made from different animals. Last but not least the one alcoholic drink that was had (Pink Lily) was bland and lacked any flavor even a light flavor which we thought by the name would be had. The waitress /bartender when not bringing us our food was on her cell phone Non-Stop. The prices are the prices, quantity is there to back the price, but the quality, hopefully an off day for them would lend to the food being over priced. Unfortunately we will not be going back. We are not saying not to go, we are letting you know our experience and making you aware of what a possible off day may look like at this...
Read moreI’m Always looking for a good BBQ restaurant and often left disappointed especially in the area I live. But Farmboys Smokin’ BBQ did NOT disappoint. Stopped in for lunch with my fiancée the other day. The atmosphere was rustic and quaint with plenty of seating at tables and at the bar. The menu is on the small side but you know the saying quality over quantity. The menu is also a little on the pricey side but again if it’s a quality product that I enjoy price does not affect me. But does this establishment have that quality? From my experience the answer is YES! At the table is two containers of they’re own bbq sauce. One of them being the spicier variety. These sauces were decent but to me the bbq sauce is not important, I tried it and used it sparingly as a condiment. But to me sauce does not make a bbq, some places and people think that smothering something in bbq sauce makes that BBQ, no it’s the Smokey tender taste of the meats that have been slow cooked in a smoker. This restaurant does not add bbq sauce they leave it up to you which imho is the way. First thing we ordered was our appetizer Pork Belly and it blew me away, it was awesome, beautiful smoked flavor and as tender as can be. After one bite of this Pork Belly I was sold. For our main course my fiancée ordered a half rack of ribs with two sides. This item was actually a special and not on the regular menu. The ribs like the appetizer were cooked perfect with great Smokey flavor. The sides were average to good but they’re only supporting roles the meat is the star. I had the Pulled Pork sandwich with fries. No complaints it was a really good pulled pork sandwich again a great Smokey flavor. The fries were also tasty but again we came for the meats. So overall I was very satisfied with this restaurant and would definitely go again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great BBQ in the Danbury/Bethel area. If you go try the Pork Belly, OMG that was one of the best things I’ve had at a BBQ or...
Read moreI read and appreciate your response. Actually, my order was not discounted so that is not accurate. If I am incorrect, please let me know what was discounted and wouldn't the waitress have let me know? Also, regardless of how popular your restaurant may be, you might want to pay attention to barely cooked cornbread and over-greasy food, even if that's not the norm. In terms of my reviews, I have 2 Google accounts and often give 5 star reviews. In fact, due to time limitations, I only write reviews if I feel the service/food, etc. was outstanding or below par. That is my right and doesn't negate the experience my son and I had with your food, service and attitude. I hope you improve all three. Last night, I called in an order for the first time. I so wanted to love this place. Have had great "soul food" and BBQ from NYC to the Carolinas, etc. And wanted it to be a great time with my family. When I called, I was told that they were out of the pulled pork. So I ordered two rib platters. I was told to come down in 30 minutes. When I arrived, the order wasn't ready. There were five tables of people and nobody else getting take out. This remained constant for the additional 30 minutes I had to wait. (One of our platters came out 15 minutes after I arrived, but the half of the order wasn't ready.) There was no AC. Every few minutes the waitress/bartender apologized. When I finally got the food home, the ribs were beyond greasy - there are no descriptive enough words. Let's just say they were dripping in way too much grease. This was also true with the Brussels Sprouts. Greasy beyond redemption. Lastly, the cornbread was grossly undercooked, very pale and almost doughy. We need a good BBQ place in the area. There must be a dozen pizza places, so I was hoping this place would be a "find." The only thing I found out is that I should be more careful before spending $55 on...
