O'Brien's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Danbury

I’m an older guy who likes “old school” sports bars with 1970 style decor and good food, good patrons and friendly workers within. Love this place, it fits the bill 100%. Went there today, Sunday, Nov 6, with my son, wife and two grand children, Max 8 hrs old and his little sister 6 (the boss). We had a great table in the bar area and were all treated like family by our waitress and those friendly folks inside this bustling restaurant.

We had Great wings, burgers and corned beef sandwiches along with the French fries that were better than the fries at McDonalds as my son remarked. Football fans were piling in as we were leaving as the NY Jets were about to play and be shown on several TVs that were lined all over the walls at this vibrant and happy place that we fortunately chose for a bite to eat on a terrific fall day on the outskirts ofDanbury CT.

If you like a relaxing atmosphere with patrons of all ages and good food and drinks, give O’Briens a shot when you get a chance. This unique old style Irish Pub more than likely will be just what you were...

Just wow. The wife and I like to Google Irish pubs as we travel during vacations. We were on our last day and wanted to stop for lunch and found o'Brien's. The entire menu was filled with authentic Irish dishes. Plus they not only had Guinness but Smithwicks both on tap. The food was superb. I had the shepherd's pie. It was one of those dishes that kept me going back for just one more bite. Too big to finish in one sitting. I am looking forward to the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The wife had their lobster bisque and corned beef sandwich. The bisque was awesome, super flavor and chunks of seafood. The sandwich was piled high with some of the best tasting and tender meat either have tasted on a pub menu. We also had the calamari appetizer. Cooked perfectly. As for the staff.. the bartender was a pleasure. Very friendly and outgoing. Definitely made us feel like we were a regular. We live just under 2 hours from this pub and are already thinking of reasons to make day trips...

I've been here a few times, but lately, I have gotten mediocre service. Drinks are fairly priced and the food is okay. Karaoke is fun but the regulars get to put as many songs in a row as they want. Which is ridiculous, especially if you want everyone to have fun whether they're regulars or not. Now my biggest discomfort is when I ask for a regular drink and the bartender serves me a double and also has the guts to charge me for something I didn't ask for. This has happened to me twice and the second time , I told the bartender that I didn't order a tall drink , I just wanted one drink, regular size. She rolled her eyes and then tried to sell my fiancé more drinks. I stopped her and asked for the check, and she had put all the drinks as tall.
