So, Saturday morning, I need a plunger for our room (embarrassing, I know, but it is part of the story). My wife is awake but my daughter is still sleeping. I call down and ask for them to bring up a plunger. “Natalie” at the front desk said she’d send one up Fine.||Few minutes later, there’s a knock on the door. I was amazed by how fast the delivery was. Only it wasn’t a plunger. It was a housekeeper. “Check out.” She said. I asked “Check out?” “Check out!” She replied. I told her we had a late check out and she said okay.||Now, this was at 10am, 2 hours before the check out time listed on our door and 3 hours before the late check out they gave us. So, I called the front desk and spoke to Natalie again to confirm the late check out. She saw it on our system and offered us a 2pm check out and said the plunger was on its way up. ||So, we waited for the plunger. And waited. And waited. We looked outside our door, no plunger. After about a total of 15-20 minutes we decided to call down again. Got a testy Natalie this time. Told her we still haven’t gotten a plunger.||“It’s outside your door. He knocked and no one answered. He left it out outside your door.”||I told her I heard no knock and that I looked outside the door and it wasn’t there. “I’m sure it’s there. Check outside and if it’s not there call back,” she snapped. ||Go back to the door, look outside. It’s still not there. Look down the hall in case it was in front of the wrong door. Nothing. ||I call back. Got Natalie. Again. “Oh, they delivered it to the wrong floor. We’re sorry. We’ll get that right to you.”||Few minutes later, got the plunger. I took it, used it for it’s designed purpose and was going to leave it outside the door. My wife suggests that I call down to let them know I was done with it.||So, I call down. Get Natalie. Before she says her greeting I hear her say this with withering disgust and disdain:||“Ugh, it’s him again.”||Now, I wouldn’t be writing this if it was just them not sharing our late check out with housekeeping or delivering the plunger to the wrong floor. But acting all put out because I had to call four times because of all those things? Yeah, I’ll go all “Karen” on you on TripAdvisor. It’s not like the hotel is the Ritz-Carlton or that there are no other options. It’s not like we were in the wrong. If she didn’t want to talk to me all those times, there was an easy fix. Do it right the first time. ||Tl;dr: poor service compounded by poor service means that you shouldn’t stay here unless that...
Read moreAll I can say is YUCK! I had the unpleasant misfortune of staying there one night (July 6, 2013) and will NEVER stay there again! First of all, when I called the hotel directly to make reservations, I asked how old the place was. I believe they told me it was built in 2000, but the rooms had been recently renovated. NOT TRUE! While it appeared they put new carpeting in the hallway, the room itself was dreary, dingy, dated and very, very "tired." It also had a nasty odor! So depressing after a long day's drive. I had just stayed at the Residence Inn in Frederickburg, VA, and it was lovely. This place was a true dump in comparison! I was so disgusted and disappointed. Everything looked dirty -- even the towels looked grey. The bathroom light did not work. The toilet seat was not centered! The toilet itself made a constant dripping noise. When we called the desk to complain, we were told the place was completely booked for the evening. All I could think was that everyone staying there got duped too, and the poor souls must be miserable. We could not get another room there, and because we were thoroughly exhausted we thought we'd suffer it out. I won't do that again -- next time, I'd sleep in my car before staying in a place like that. Oh - it is oddly situated on a small hill, so to get to the first floor where our room was, we still had to climb about ten stairs from the parking lot entry with all our suitcases and gear. I thought to myself that it was not a good place for seniors who can't contend with stairs. Just avoid this place...it is dismal on every count -- even at breakfast, they "ran out of yougurt" about 1.5 hours before breakfast ended. Just perfect. I couldn't even get a LOUSY yougurt after that MISERABLE...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews but this place is an exception. I’m currently staying at this hotel and had a pretty bad experience. This place is OLD and not kept up to date over the years. Here are some things I noticed:||CARPETS are old and smelly. They need to be replaced. ||AIR CONDITIONING is not functional. The central AC doesn’t work. They have installed window units which get blocked by the curtains in the night and make the room hot. If you open the curtains, the bright lights outside won’t let you sleep. ||REFRIGERATORS are old and the compressors make a constant rattling noise. After multiple requests, they finally changed the refrigerator in our room. ||HOUSEKEEPING is once every 7 days (although the website says alternate days). I had to really be persistent in order to get one housekeeping service in a week during my stay. ||BREAKFAST is free but you’re better off eating outside and paying for your breakfast elsewhere. ||NOISE LEVEL from the traffic is quite high. One one side you have the highway and the other side has a very busy road. ||CHECK IN was unpleasant. The gentleman who checked me in did me a huge favor by letting me check in early but made sure I couldn’t ask any more questions - because he allowed me to check in early. ||MAINTENANCE is poor. Paint is peeling in places and curtains are torn with duct tape used to repair in som rooms. ||SWIMMING POOL was closed during the entire stay. ||PRICES are high compared to other hotels in the area. ||The only good thing about this place is a mini kitchen in your room. Also, George who works in the evening shift is a very nice guy and pleasant to talk to. ||Hope the management takes note of these issues and improves the...
