If you are in Fort Lauderdale and you don't go here, you are doing yourself a huge disservice. If you go here, it will become a staple for every future visit.
We went here after going on a cruise in March. We called them up and advised we had a party of 5 and would like to reserve. After a brief hold, we were advised a table is available and reserved. Great! So we head out and I punch the wrong address in Google maps and we go 15 minutes in the wrong direction 🤦🏾. Everyone in the vehicle was tired and hangry after the day we had and wanted to just eat something in the area we were in. However, since I made a reservation and wanted to honour it, being a good Canadian. WELL, it was the absolute best decision made for the trip. We rolled up on the place and it looks just like it does on Google maps. A little nondescript place, green outside, tinted windows, fluorescent lights in the windows. I remember thinking "Crap! This is not looking good." Boy was I wrong. This tiny little place was full and for good reason. They took us to our table and dropped these heavenly garlic buns on the table. They were so good they were gone in minutes and our server brought another round. I knew that if what we ordered was as good as those buns we were in for a treat. I was not disappointed. The buns and the garlic butter they were soaked in were so good. I could have eaten them all night. Our server, Debbie, was awesome, charming, funny, polite all the time but rude on cue. Just the perfect person for the day we had. She made sure we were not wanting for anything. Fantastic! We ordered 2 minestrone soups for appies and it was the perfect compliment to the bread. The pizzas we ordered were equally as good. We had a meat lovers and a house special. One person in the group went with a lasagna. We have not been to a restaurant in years where this person hasn't complained about something and there wasn't a single complaint from them. Not about the food, service, cost, nothing. I was shocked. If you're in Fort Lauderdale go here to eat. You won't be disappointed. We were so happy we went back for lunch before our...
Read moreAbsolutely the best Italian food and pizza you will find in Dania beach, hands down. No problems there. Our family eats from Antonio's once or twice a month and absolutely enjoys every meal to the last drop. We look forward to it.
Price wise, it is one of the more expensive Pizza places in Dania by just a few dollars, but it's been worth every penny I've spent there over the last 4 years.
I've sat down to eat at this restaurant on just a handful of occasions and it was always a fairly good experience. On one experience it felt a little dirty inside as the tables and chairs we were sat in didn't feel or look clean, but I can look past that one off experience. That is not at all why I am leaving a 3 star review.
The reason I am leaving a 3-star review is because of my experience picking up take-out orders at Antonio's. The previous two times we've picked up orders, as soon as I've handed my debit card to pay for our take-out meal, the cashier -an older woman- has asked me if I'd like to leave a tip for the Chef.
Excuse me? A tip for the chef who made my take out order? Does the cost of the food not include the service of actually making the food? How am I expected to leave a tip for the chef up front when I've not even eating or seen the food that is in my take out order? Is this becoming a thing?
This question is asked at the check-out counter, where other patrons are often standing and can over-hear the conversation, and to make matters worse, the chef is also standing RIGHT BEHIND HER when she asks.
If I was to tip the Chef, where is that money actually going? Is it split between everyone in the back of the house, or is it going directly to one person? More importantly, if I choose to tip the chef, is that chef working on tipped wages? Cause that doesn't seem right. Is the owner the chef?
Please stop verbally asking your patrons to tip the chef. It puts patrons in an embarrassing and unusual position. A better way to do this would be to hand your patrons a receipt that allows them to fill in a tip if they feel it is...
