Neglect and discrimination! Even one star is too much.
Their food was excellent, but their human services were poorest. Feels discriminated because of my Asian appearance.
First of all , being discriminated to get this coffee which is shown on the photo. I was insulted to get this coffee yesterday in the restaurant. Yesterday I was excited to meet friends at the restaurant in 4-5yrs. We arrived at 11:45am . Not busy time. On arrival I requested a cup of coffee . Not served, but only breads were served. I took 2- pieces of bread without drinking coffee. My throat was strangled. I and my friends asked 2more times for coffee. Nothing happened. The restaurant was not that busy. Our server didn’t reply at all. He seems to be inattentive. No eye contact. After 4th trial, a cup of coffee was finally served. We were happy. After I finished one cup of coffee , I requested refill. The server didn’t answer my request. No eye contact. Another neglect. I thought the server might have had problem in paying attention. The restaurant was not that busy. I waited. Nothing happened. The servant was helping other table next to my seat. I asked once more . No response. Another neglect. I and my friends asked other server, and finally the refill for coffee was done. We were happy for it. After the refill was done by other server, I looked at the server who was neglecting my request for coffee. I noticed that he was looking at my cup of coffee which was refilled by his college. Obviously he did not look inattentive. He was paying attention to what was going on my request for coffee. He was ignoring my request for coffee refill intentionally. I asked his name, and took photos on the coffee and dessert. I was preparing for something. Later he came and said “sorry about coffee”. So I am not disclosing his name. But he said sorry without changing his ATTITUDE because he felt something when he paid attention that I was taking photos. I paid the charge with tip. But it made me not feeling go there anymore.
The other discrimination is about seating. We were seated next to the kitchen where employees were coming and going with noises for cooking and washing. I felt myself very uncomfortable sitting there. There were lots of seats, not occupied. The restaurant was not that busy. It was 11:45am. While I was going to the rest room, I passed by a hall which was much nicer to meet with people. Only 3-4 tables were occupied by people who had only fairly skin and blonde hair. Also lots of other seats in the big hall where I was seated were available, far distant from noisy kitchen. That made me sad and look on my appearance of being Asian.
My experience is horrible. We paid cost for being discriminated and neglected. If you want to enjoy service from human, not only food, you may go to other...
Read moreFirst. Thank you so, so much to Tami, David, Robert, Chef Mike, GM John Perkins, and all of the Piatti Staff. Food was definitely on point! This was an AMAZING and intimate event for us - party of 18 in the Tuscan room. I cannot express the gratitude or the level of professionalism, care, and consideration that was shown to us. I have worked with numerous event coordinators as my profession is in this industry (working with hotels, restaurants, etc. for parties of 10 all the way to 2-3 thousand) and the event for my daughter’s birthday went off without a hitch. I mean, even before the day of the event, Tami, the event coordinator, was very responsive and flexible. She answered in detail, all my questions. She set up a meeting to give me a more hands on visual of the event location even while she was going on vacation. She followed up our meeting with multiple phone calls to ensure our event went the way it should while she was ON VACATION. She made sure the BEO (banquet event order) was modified every time we spoke and made changes to it and asked me to review it to ensure it was to my standard. Then, from the time we arrived for the event to the moment we left, the level of customer service has been the best I’ve seen. Not once in the 15 plus years I’ve worked in this industry has the coordinating staff ever helped in the actual set up of our event, but the staff at Piatti did (ie putting things out for our props that we brought, seeing and providing second opinions on whether the way things were laid out looked okay, helping carry items in from the vehicle to the venue location, setting props out. The moment we walked in, they offered drinks - coffee, water, tea, etc. to the set up crew. Continued to ask if we needed help with anything. It literally felt like they were part of the family, engaged and ready to assist with every aspect of the party. After the event, they helped with clean up, and even helped with throwing away props that we didn’t need anymore, I mean the whole 9. Last but not least, the price point is more than I can ask. For this level of service, the price point was seriously, all I can say is they are very generous. I was more than satisfied. I was ecstatic and we will most DEFINITELY do many more...
Read moreAverage food, my husband wanted to find a good Italian place in the east bay and thought this place looked good but it compare to our favorite Italian places in the city, we found out after making reservations that this place is a chain with several locations. Everything tasted ok but really nothing special. We had a marguerita pizza, tagliatelle, spaghetti and meatballs, Caesar, butternut squash roasted apple soup. Mostly everything felt very heavy except the salad. Caesar was just like any Caesar at a cafe or even packaged at a store to grab to go. Pizza was too bready for me, I prefer more Italian style that is thinner crust with San marzano tomato sauce, plus too much cheese. Butternut soup was a little too sweet and more cream than our favorite version of this at Gaumenkitzel. It would have been nice to get our pizza right away as we observed it sitting on the counter for at least 5 minutes. I've had fresher hand made tagliatelle pasta at Italian places in the city. This was not fresh pasta. Spaghetti was not al dente though I guess we should have requested al dente. Pasty sauces, no refinement. The tiramisu is good but again we've had better in those places in SF that are also made in house like this place. I prefer traditional powdered cacao instead of chocolate shavings as the bitterness of cacao powder cuts through the heaviness whereas the chocolate shavings have the added milk and sugar. This tiramisu isn't too sweet but still feels heavier than most and less aromatic as it's missing the alcohol/rum and coffee flavor. Kind of a waste of unnecessary empty calories tonight that was nothing special :/
Try in SF for great Italian: seven hills, baonecci, and il casaro for pasta, pizza, and tiramisu to compare if you think...
