Royal Donut — Restaurant in Danville

So let's talk about it. So I went in today! It's truly a mess, The doughnuts are not what they used to be. I don't know if they could ever be royal doughnut. Honestly to protect the 50 plus years they have been here they should change the name. Doughnuts of not the right consistency the texture is not doughnut like. The taste of royal donut is gone and not the same. Cookies are way to thick. Special childhood doughnuts are not being made they would do better just making a small selection of doughnuts. Mad goat it's not a coffee shop this is a doughnut shop do better. If people want you coffee let them go to your coffee shop. 6 to sold out is unprofessional saying that you just can't keep up don't blame it on danville blame yourself. Hire more people to prep at night. So many things you cold do better. Royal donut was always ready and always had good business and guess what they never ran out of doughnuts. Do better or close it for good we've seen this with Schroeder's. Don't be them...

I had tried to go Royal Donut 2 times after they re-opened and they were closed because they were sold out! So Monday when my drs office was closed, my oldest son and I went to see if maybe we could get one or two of the elusive Royal Donuts! To our amazement they were open. I was so excited to go in, that my son who doesn't really "do donuts"decided to come in too. The delightful aroma of donuts and coffee was wonderful. I already knew that I wanted a chocolate filled something and and one with jelly filling. The employees were great! They smiled the whole time and genuinely seemed to love their job. One of them patiently told me what kind of filling each tray had. I decided on the chocolate with angel creme inside and the powdered sugar with strawberry jelly filling. It was truly a wonderful experience. And while we chose to take our purchases with us, there are a few little tables that we could have stayed and ate donuts and chitchated for a bit. Maybe...

Drive thru finally open a few weeks now. THANKS! Open later now too! Pricey. But what do you expect when minimum wage is higher than the past plus inflation. Two things will give these folks 5 stars from me. 1-Figure a way to get glaze around most of the donut instead of just the sides. 2- Please, please, bring back the chocolate iced nut roll and Please please please please bring back the ice cream sandwich (if you need the freezer to display them in ask the community, we can contribute and I'll be the 1st! Please please please keep chocolate milk on deck. Please please please please only hire pleasant people (the last owners had rude ones-not all but some) please please please bring back some of the old menu items when you can. And please please please announce on sign so I can swerve on in there. And finally Be mindful of pricing, for I/we know you need to stay in business but find a happy medium to keep us...
