My family and I stopped in here on our way back home in Indianapolis from Branson Missouri,to determine whether or not the Horchata was up to snuff bases on the previous reviews already posted about this establishment. To our surprise, the horchata was decent. We have found, in Indianapolis anyway that the less commercialized establishments usually have the better horchata. Anyway, we found the food to be yummy as well. But better than the food and the horchata was the service and staff! Miss Katy our waitress was very pleasant to us and thoroughly accommodated us, as we repeatedly asked her for another item or more of another item or an extra this or that. No huffy breath or eye roll or any kind of a facial expression that said, "these people are exhausting"!!! We were very happy with her performance. Between Miss Katy and the older gentleman whose name we did not get, speed was the name if the game. Our food came out fast and they checked on us continually. We would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone who is a lover of the Spanish flare of food. Great Job...
Read moreNormally I don't leave reviews about a place however, this little "hole in the wall" will most certainly rock your tastebuds to a new delicious beat. Tacos Calvillo has to be the MOST AUTHENTIC Mexican food eating establishment I have been in for more than 10 years. The service was truly excellent and while we did wait a few minutes extra for our meal, it was so worth it! The food was hot and fresh and tasted like I didn't expect. Usually a lot of places taste the same. Their main dishes are already prepared and come to the eatery frozen ready to heat n serve. Not Tacos Cavillos! I could have closed my eyes with that mouthful of authentic Torta and just by hearing the busy sounds of the employees and soaking in that smell, I could swear I left Danville and landed across the border. Way to go guys!! Love this place, don't take my word for it, just walk inside n close your eyes. Take a good long deep inhale and you will know you've hit...
Read moreBeing from the southwest I grew up tasting good tacos and bad tacos. I know the difference. This store really tries to duplicate the authentic dining experience of the Mexican family. They seem to have attained their goals and brought a piece of Mexico to the Midwest. Danville, Illinois is privy to host a genuinely authentic family dining experience with nice hosts to boot. My wife and I ordered the lengua, carnitas, and carne asada tacos. They were tender, well seasoned and topped with plenty of cilantro & onions. The limes that came with the tacos quelled the wicked hot salsa that came upon our request.Totally eatable and satisfying. We also ordered 2 burritos to go, carne asada and carnitas-both loaded with meat and so delicious. Can't wait to go back and hopefully get a...
