Well, Persy's in Dartmouth has been a regular spot of ours for ages. Today was our last visit. We go so often because there is enough seating that there isn't usually a wait and it is right near by. There are always little problems, burnt coffee, the pancakes aren't very good, the service is usually lackluster but, TODAY. Ugh. Lemme tell ya.
We go to a few places first and they all have a wait so we decide to go to our old standby. Oops. It's October here in New England and the waitress tries to seat us in the little back room that is air conditioned, really? We get sat at a less freezing, incredibly sticky table. Boyfriend orders biscuits and gravy which comes with sausage, eggs, and two sides (home fries and toast for him.) and I order a Montana omelet with a cinnamon crumpet and a pancake (for the baby) and I order her a scrambled egg. We have to go get crayons and an extra place setting ourselves. Whatever.
The food comes. My omelet was OK. The scrambled egg was wet to the point of being part raw, the pancake was cold and dry (when it came to us, not after letting it sit). The best part of all was the sausage and biscuits meal. It was a biscuit shaped like a muffin, cut in half with cold gloppy sausage gravy on it. The muffin/biscuit was inedibley dry. The other plate had eggs, toast, and home fries. No sausage. Boyfriend asks waitress, doesn't this come with sausage? She apologizes, comes back with a side plate with two sausage patties on it. OK. We have ordered that particular plate a zillion times and it was always regular biscuits. He eats the eggs, sausage and toast. The baby eats a tenth of the pancake and I eat my omlete. The table next to us ordered the same biscuit meal. His comes with three sausage patties, and he didn't have to ask for them.
I get up to pay the bill and I tell the waitress at the register that it was incredibly disappointing and she notes that we come in all the time. She offered to pull the meal off the bill and I told her no, I was happy to pay for it. I just wanted her to know how bad it all was. She takes it upon her self to comp the entire bill. I thank her fifty times and tell her I'm sorry to be complaining. I leave a stellar tip for a mediocre waitress.
It would be OK if the story ended there. I go back to the table and am putting my kiddos jacket on when the owner comes out and asks me what was wrong. I tell him. He tells us that the biscuits have always looked like that and disagrees with us. I tell him the pancake was terrible and offer him a bite, he is arguing with us that the food was just fine. Um, just apologize. I don't need to argue with you for a half hour. Then, he un-comps the bill and takes the bad meal off of it instead and has us pay it. Seriously? I'd have been happy to pay it but, how do you look any pettier than that?? Happy to pay that bill. I'll never be back to eat your mediocre food with your poorly staffed dining room and your sticky tables. There are plenty of other places int eh world more than happy to...
Read moreWe just left after a poor experience for breakfast at the Dartmouth location. We came early, the place was nearly empty, we were sat immediately. Then we waited. And waited. And waited... nearly 10 minutes passed, 5 other tables were sat and one was served coffee, and another was asked, before we were even asked if we wanted coffee.
When we were finally asked what we wanted to eat, I chose blueberry pancakes with a side of extra crispy bacon, my dh chose the meatlovers omelet with hash browns and corn bread.
The coffee was good, although we did have to stop another staff member for cream since ours was empty. Our food came and looked good, the bacon was fairly crisp and there were three very large pancakes. Dh's breakfast looked delish. I tried my pancakes and they had absolutely no flavor, they were heavy and even with plenty of blueberries all I tasted was the syrup I put on them to make them palatable. Dh breakfast was delish so we shared that.
Nicole was our waitress, she never came back to our table to ask how our food was even though she asked the two tables directly across from us. She dropped off our ticket and left, again not asking how anything was. 80% of my pancakes were still on my plate and she wasn't at our table long enough for me to say a word...even when she took our credit card she was handling the other table so barely said a word again.
We left the appropriate tip, but since this was our first visit, it will most definitely be our last. There were enough people working, and the place was empty enough to warrant great service. The manager walked by several times greeting other tables, asking how service was, never once looking our way. We were going to stop and say something on our way out, but if they are not able to see an unhappy customer under their nose, they obviously...
Read morei’d honestly give it NO-STARS if i could! Seated pretty quickly, but then it went down hill. Myself my husband in our six month old or sat at a dirty table. drinks came fast but my coffee was cold and i asked for a spoon and cream and was brought a fork and knife( so made due) my husband asked for a lg OJ, she brought he the smallest cup, and when asked about it she goes “ oh yes sorry i gave you a small because we ran out of lg cups” then our food came cold and my husbands eggs Benedict the eggs for hard boiled.. and i was missing almost half of my food that i had ordered. rather than our waitress just bring it to me she tried to grab my plate of eggs and i asked if she could just bring it in a separate plate (she then said “oh yes of-course” ) i then asked for a plate to put some eggs and food on for the baby she tells me “they ran out of plates”? mind you not busy at the Time we were there and a couple stocked from us with a different waitress received a full-size plate about the same time we asked. i asked for another cup of coffee and again cold but i personally hate to complain so once again made due. we asked for a to-go box and she tells us again they ran out of larg togo boxes so she gives me two small ones and said i can cut my pancakes in half and fold them.. the couple across from us again or sees the full-size one from their waitress! we look at the bill, i was charged for my Pancakes sausage and bacon that I did not receive my original plan for part of my “ breakfast special” she goes “ oh i’m so sorry let me go take a look at that” probably one of the worst breakfast experiences we’ve ever had, we loved the Persy’s in Middleborough but we will NEVER go back...
