Goodbye 11th Street! Wait staff chose to ignore our table! Went last night for our Thursday "Guy Night", for which we probably hit 11th Street 8-10 times a year. There were 9 of us last night, which is a pretty good turn out - we typically have at least 6 or 7. Some of us have been friends for decades, we range in age from early 20s to early 60s, all have good jobs (a couple of us work at the Arsenal, one guy owns a concrete company, another is a bank VP, etc), and are generally decent guys - just take one night a week to get away from the wives (Lol)! I got there later than several and some were just finishing paying their tabs at the bar while a few others had moved to a pair of tables that had been pushed together in the center of the room. I joined at the tables. A couple new guys joined as well. We waited. Nothing. Wait staff walking all around waiting on people who had come in after us, of course. Some time passed, so I went to the bar to get a beer and hinted something like "I came up here since no one has come to our table yet", got my beer and sat back down. Several more minutes pass... couple guys still with nothing, couple more had finished their drinks. Oh, there's a waitperson gathering a bunch of menus, surely she's heading our way! Nope. Two of our crew try to get wait staff's attention, to no avail. Mind you, there's NO WAY they didn't hear them! Our hypothesis is that we unwittingly may have taken tables that were meant for a party of women that were starting to gather, as they did push two more tables together shortly after we sat and the ladies moved there from their booth as more came in. There was no "reserved" sign and all staff would have had to do was ask - we'd have graciously moved... we ARE gentlemen. The couple of us that had drinks to finish did so (which took a few more minutes... nothing!), and we went to Armored Gardens where yet another gentleman joined (making 10) and we enjoyed great service, delicious tenderloins and beer and probably spent close to $500. Oh, and we are pretty good tippers since we work hard for our money and appreciate those that do the same. Gee, what's 20% of $500??? Goodbye...

As a business owner myself, I was completely outraged as to the conduct of the owner of the establishment. I have never seen such impulsive and abusive behavior in a restaurant before. After reading other reviews on YELP, facebook, google, etc., this was not the first time this type of behavior occurred. The owner became outraged, irrational, and unprofessional. There was also an additional review posted from someone who was not in my party that the owner also treated them rudely and used the "n" word when they complaint about their food being under cooked. Completely unacceptable from any staff member, let alone the owner.
Never in my life did I expect to get hit in the face with a phone and a hand because the owner of an establishment was unable to control his temper and decided to start throwing objects and his fists around. But that is exactly what happened here. I was literally hit in the face by the owner. When I made him aware that he hit me, he simply looked at me and continued yelling, pushing people, and throwing things.
I am also upset that this occurred during the dinner time, and that kids were still in the restaurant and were able to hear the words he was using. His profanity was incredibly vulgar and inappropriate.
A 1-star rating is too high, but I had to at least select one to write a review.
I highly urge you to avoid being a patron of this place. I personally refuse to support a business who has an owner who acts in such ways. If I would have read the reviews of this type of behavior happening before, I would have never gone there. I know now and will never visit this...
Read moreI love going there a lot because the food is great with decent portions, however tonight I was very put off. They wanted me to pay them 1.50 extra for a to go box. I literally canceled my order. I guess 7.99 for an order of cheese fries isn't enough money. I get the concept though. To go containers cost money, however the profit margin should already be figured into the price of the food. To go customers don't sit and get waited on, nor do they suck up all your soda while waiting for food. That alone should offset the price of a box. What's next, McDonald's charging you to wrap your food? No, they know it's part of the cost. This behavior leads to only 2 conclusions. The establishment is struggling or just being greedy. Neither really attract me as a customer. If a business is struggling, they are more likely to cut corners with quality. If they are charging just to get an extra $1.50 out of someone, they should be ashamed.
I checked with every place on 11th street, and not a single other one charges such an exhorbant fee.
11th st Precinct, thank you for all the good food, and the good memories over the years. I am no longer going to patronize you until you quit the nickel and dimimg.
I wanted my food to go because I have a migraine. Your live music was making it worse. Don't penalize me for coming up with a solution that is mutually beneficial. They sell amazing cheese fries with brisket across the street. It's absolutely to die for. Guess what, no to go fee.
Buyer beware, don't get...
