We went to the Smokehouse today. When we went in the two women at the register/host stand did not acknowledge our existence. One was on her phone and the other just did not seem to interest in seating us. It was enough, I was ready to leave - BUT I am glad we didn't.

Our server Stacey was AMAZING. She was friendly and attentive, even as the restaurant was closing for the afternoon, something we learned after we were seated. Maybe the two up front were irritated by our 1:45 arrival ( they close from 2-4), which we were unaware of. If they had greeted us and told us they were closing we would have come back at another time. We just did not know.

We apologized to Stacey once we learned about the closing from 2-4, which she assured us was not an issue at all. She definitely assuaged my guilt.

Then the food came out. The unfriendly welcome was easy to overlook after Stacey brought our food out. I'm a southern girl from NC and this was the BEST pulled pork sandwich I ever had. My husband felt the same about his brisket sandwich and look at the meat loaded on those sandwiches.

The food and Stacey made it a great lunch and we are already looking forward to our return. We did have one more lackluster encounter at checkout, evidently if you are running the register your cell phone is more important than customer service. This is the ONLY reason the Smokehouse did not get 5 stars. Go for the food and wait staff...they make it worth every moment.

Side note: take a moment to walk to the observation deck behind the restaurant, it is a view not...

I asked The Smokehouse to cater a lunch party that I threw at the lodge, and I could not have been happier with the service. The manager was extremely responsive and helpful throughout our communication prior to the event. I knew all of the options and prices up front and was able to choose entrees and sides that we thought would fit the expected crowd.

The day of the event we were greeted both by the manager and the server who would be assisting us; again, friendly and incredibly helpful. They set up pretty much everything and easily accommodated our table layout for guests and the cake/gift table.

The food was delicious and plentiful. I had ordered about 20% more than needed for unexpected guests, but even with that there was way more than enough food. We did the buffet style, two entrée option. It also included salads, rolls, water, tea, lemonade, and coffee. Almost everybody took home boxes full of rolls and salad, and there was enough left over from the entrees and sides that we all had dinner taken care of as well.

I won’t say it was cheap, but it was absolutely reasonable considering the service and sheer amount of food they provided. If you’re looking for a venue and wonderful catering, I cannot recommend the lodge and The Smokehouse enough (you have to separately contact the lodge to book a room for an event). I also highly recommend that you get the pot roast as your (or one of your) entrée(s). It was...

I,wish I would’ve read the reviews before we went to this restaurant. The service was awful. We had to wait an hour on our food to arrive and I was hoping it would be fresh and hot, boy was I disappointed!! We did the Valentines Day Dinner for two. I got the T-bone that wasn’t medium rare, overcooked, and my husband got the shrimp and scallop pasta. It was warm but we had a very hard time trying to find the tiny pea sized scallops. Not worth the price. My baked potato was cold and the butter barely melted it. I will say the pretzel sticks were AMAZING! Fresh and hot. The waitress was ask three times if we could get our dessert and check she never came back we had to chase her down. And even then we never got the turtle cheesecake. My husband sat for 30 minutes with no refill on his tea. This restaurant is overpriced, the food is cold, the service was terrible!! I don’t remember our waitress’s name but she worked on the left of the restaurant and we were like the 2nd table. She had her hair up. We won’t be back again to pay for overpriced food, cold food, ( other than the pretzel sticks) customer service! Needless to say we don’t go out much other than special occasions and date night once a month. Stay home and cook your own food and it will be better than putting up with all this mess! Very very...

They shouldn't call this place "The Smokehouse" I got the half rack of baby back ribs and they came cleanly off the bone but they definitely weren't smoked - no smoke ring at all. It should be "The Bakehouse". My wife got the deluxe pulled pork sandwich which had both pulled pork and brisket. Neither was smoked so what, exactly, are they smoking cause it ain't food. The coleslaw and baked beans had no flavor. Luckily there was salt, pepper, sugar(should have asked for brown sugar but oh well), ketchup, and mustard so we were able to sort of make our own baked beans. Would have been good if we could have heated them up. Actually, about the best thing on the whole plate was the cold corn muffin. Wow, I can't believe I just typed that. That's just sad. Service was terrible- had to keep flagging the waiter down and he still forgot to bring our things we asked for like bbq sauce to help give the dry, tasteless pulled pork some flavor and moisture. I suppose they stay open because they have a captive clientele since there's no other place to eat around and the location at the lodge is beautiful. To everyone out there coming to the lodge - do yourself have favor and pack some sandwiches. You'll be way better off.

The issues at this place weren’t the fault of our young server, but they could probably improve their training. There were 3-4 tables active in the place the whole time we were there and they just couldn’t seem to serve us to normal standards. The server didn’t know the beer list and asked us to get up and walk across the restaurant to read it ourselves instead of finding out what was on tap, our app came at the same time as mains, beer was served flat, and food was lukewarm (especially bad for the fries). Halfway through the meal, we were handed the bill (we wanted another round of drinks). It’s hard to understand since they weren’t busy at all. The place feels very institutional, like the atmosphere of a dining room at a retirement home, but with a gorgeous view. The food itself was okay. Pulled pork sandwich has been inexplicably reimagined as a pork and brisket sandwich, which muddies the flavor. I took my brisket off and ate it as a side. Corn muffins did not taste made from scratch. There are lots of great restaurants right outside the park in Davis and Thomas. I’d definitely skip this one. 2025 menu attached.
