San Joe's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Dawson

Our server came to our table to take our orders, hadn’t gotten any chips or salsa at all yet, he left and maybe 10 minutes later another server asked if we would like some chips and salsa(thankfully!) but we had also ordered cheese dip and had to ask a whole other server for it, the chips were stale, our food took about 40-45 minutes to come out and we were missing a lot! Also our original server hadn’t been back yet. We were 3 people and all missing components to our food. Eventually, we were all running out of drinks, not even ice left and NO ONE would bring refills. We waited over 27 minutes and at that point we could finally get Togo plates and Togo drinks. Staff was more worried about rolling silverware and hiding in the back or extra dining room. Again, our original server never showed back up after taking our drink and food orders. We did not leave a tip even knowing they do tip share cause over 4 servers there and only 6 tables taken and no one wanted to do their jobs. We won’t be coming back anymore. Owner couldn’t be bothered by it anyway as this behavior of his staff has been brought to his attention many times and he won’t do anything about it. Used to be the best but next time we’ll try the New Mexican restaurant that opened up across the street next...

The customer service was awful! Hayla, Assistant Manager stated they could not remake my Chimichanga when I asked my waitress for a chimichanga with ground beef. The chimichanga came out with beans as well as ground beef. I told her I only asked for ground beef. She stated that the chimichangas come with beans. I said I didn’t ask for beans so why didn’t they just leave them off. She stated that if they remade it then we would have to pay for them both because it’s my fault. This is the worst unprofessional customer service ever! Hayla and I went back and forth and would not take any responsibility. I order chimichangas all the time from different restaurants and never had them made up with beans in them. If I didn’t ask for beans then I should not have received them. I’m visiting with my boyfriend. We were 3 days in on BBQ because of the 4th and were tired of it and decided we couldn’t go wrong with Mexican.

We both live in Texas and are spoiled with delicious Tex-Mex. I got the supreme nachos and he got chicken quesadillas for him and his son and cousin. I ordered a side of pico to go with my nachos. I was not pleased with my nachos at all.

They were soggy and didn’t include shredded cheddar. They only had a little bit of meat with queso, lettuce and tomatoes. The guacamole was chopped avocados, pico was watered down and didn’t have any cilantro or jalapeños. I guess we’re spoiled with fresh homemade chips, salsa, pico and guac and didn’t get any of that from what I tasted. Maybe something else would have received a better review, but this was not very good and wouldn’t order again.
