The food, and service, and atmosphere...AMAZING.
We moved from FL to Dayton in 2021. We hadn't found anything within an hour that had anything close to the West Indian foods we got in Fl. Especially Trini style.
We went a little crazy and ordered so many things to try this 1st visit. The Roti, oxtail dinners with cabbage and rice/peas, Doubles, beef patties, plantains.
All of the flavors and texture of the Roti and Doubles were wonderful. Somehow, this place managed to please all 5 members of our family.
The serving size and prize were great. A dinner or Roti couldceasily be split into 2 small meals if youre not a big eater.
For all that we ordered (with a few people behind us) it only took 30-40 minutes to get our food at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon.
The location was in a food court with an open air feel that could be closed up in winter. There were 3-4 other places with spanish-style cuisine, a small bar in the middle with a few people, and a band was setting up for later. There was plenty of seating inside and out. Parking on the street or in a lot around back.
We got the address from calling the number on google.
The owner (I assume) was very pleasant and gave service with a smile to everyone I saw him talking to.
We'll try to take pictures next time, but it smelled too good to...
Read moreIf this is the same place as SOCA In west social tap- keep reading. I ordered what was advertised as jerk chicken over rice and beans, and it was absolutely disgusting. The “jerk chicken” tasted nothing like jerk—it was more like BBQ chicken, which I hate. The rice was supposed to be plain with beans, but it was fried rice with peas in it. I couldn’t even finish it.
I also ordered mac and cheese as a side, which was extra, and it was horrible—the worst mac and cheese I’ve ever tasted. I would have been better off getting fast food mac and cheese! I took one bite and had to throw it away.
This is by far one of the nastiest meals I’ve ever had. The description and pictures online were completely misleading. I even asked an employee what the meal came with, and what they showed me did not match what I received. BBQ flavor was not mentioned anywhere, and I specifically dislike BBQ sauce. I would never order...
Read moreAs a Caribbean girl myself, their Red velvet cake is delicious! However, the garlic jerk not so much, came with very little sauce but it was seasoned well, just not the “ garlic jerk flavor “ I was looking for. It tasted more like garlic Parmesan ! There’s no way it has any jerk sauce or jerk seasonings….it was merely a teaspoon of that sauce. Secondly, service was also extremely slow, waited 30+ mins just for 5 wings?! Guy taking orders not so professional… but that’s to be expected with most Caribbean restaurants, unfortunately. I”ll give it another go next time I’m in Dayton, would love to try their roti. Just please do better, not a bad restaurant though.I also want to add this wasn’t the food truck it self, it was inside of...
