Our group of 4 has eaten here a few times over the last couple of years. The food and sushi are good. We usually go on a Friday night, but this week we decided to go on a Thursday night and partake of the "All you can eat Monday - Thursday" special. As of the time of this post, the desktop and mobile site it advertises this as "You get to enjoy our entire menu from hearty entrees to soups, salads and sushi at a great value. For just $18.95, you will enjoy as much as you can."
So, we decided we would go so we could enjoy several different items from the menu that we normally may not try. When we got there, the waitress (who was EXCELLENT) sat us down quickly and got us the menus. I started perusing it to decide what I was going to start with. When she came back, I asked her to explain how the "all you can eat" option worked, and she said "I'll go get that menu".
When she got back, she provided the menu in the attached photo, and indicated that the "all you can eat" option only included the 10 sushi options on the menu and that the price was $19.95.
When I informed her about what the website offered, she stated that she was very sorry and that the owner was aware, but hadn't changed the website for "7 years". I don't know if 7 years is accurate, however, the website is clearly misleading.
Our waitress told us she was going to give us each a free appetizer. We ordered our appetizers and entrees, and enjoyed our meal. When we got the bill, our waitress had taken $5 off our appetizer, but had not given us a "free" appetizer.
I believe firmly that in this day and age, if you don't keep your website updated AND you don't follow through with what you promise to your customer's, you will lose customers which is what is going to happen here. It's even more frustrating because the Owner knows their website is not accurate, yet continues to advertise something that is not true.
That's unfortunate, because the entree's and the sushi rolls we have tried are very good. Our waitress was very friendly and kept our drinks full, but we won't be back until they fix their false...
Read moreAs much as I love the food when it's done right, it's expensive and I've had misses and hits. I had Mongolian Beef once that tasted really off, like there something wrong with the meat. The waiter was a grade A dick about it, didn't want to comp it, repeatedly tried to tell me everything was fine, even though I refused to eat it. It just tasted gamy like it wasn't fresh. I'm very careful about meat, I had once gotten food poisoning and no food is worth risking getting it again.
I also had dragon roll, one of my favorites. I got it once, ice cold. I asked the waiter about it, as freshwater eel in a dragon roll should always be cooked, the blood is a poison, which is completely neutralized in cooking and people eat it all the time. Same jerk waiter that time too. He didn't seem to understand nor care what I was talking about it. I just asked him to ask the waiters if it was cooked and how it was prepared. Many times I've eaten it at Koreana I've been served the dragon roll and the eel was still warm or hot, this was clearly different. He ended up having them remake it, and the remade one was also cold. It seems that they started cooking the eel ahead of time, but I was just trying to make sure of that and got treated very poorly over it.
Last time I was there I ordered Pork Bolgoki and Combination Fried Rice. The Bolgoki is naturally somewhat spicy. I asked them to make it extra spicy. Instead, they made a super spicy combination fried rice with tons of red pepper flakes, but didn't touch the pork bolgoki spices at all.
For the price the restaurant charges, it's disappointing to get mistakes and inconsistent food...
Read moreThe food was good, the place is clean. The service? It was mostly friendly, which is important. But it was so slow and inequitable I was getting mad. We were, at 11:55 am, only the third table seated. Others began to come in afterwards till at 12:30, Koreana was full. We had ordered soft drinks, salads and sushi. Twenty minutes later, nothing. Not even drinks. Finally, drinks and ONE salad. Another 20 minutes. Nothing. Other tables seated after us were getting their appetizers, drinks, salads. It wasn't that they had a better server; Koreana only had one Saturday, a co-owner, who disappeared when not bringing food out. About 45 minutes past ordering, the waitress asked if we wanted drink refills. My wife said, My husband hasn't received his salad. I said, forget it, just check on the food. She brought my salad about 1 minute later. It was very good (seaweed!). Just past the one-hour mark, we got our food, which was good. Total bill was $60. I had debated leaving a 5% tip but didn't have the heart. We typically tip 15-25%, so this time, based on the service, I left 10 percent for the first time in years. I should point out that bad experiences are not common at Koreana, but THAT was a bad experience yesterday afternoon. PS The server and bus person were both...
