I feel very sorry for this young girl, there is no excuse in any workplace for treating anyone this way.
It is harassment and needs to stop. How disgusting and disrespectful that the owner/manager makes excuses for such a poor employee.
Friends, please take the time to read this.
My daughter, Bailey, is special needs. She's autistic. That being said, she's been working at the Decorah Pizza Ranch for about 10 months. Today was her last day. A couple weeks ago something disturbing was brought to our attention. The following is the account that was given to us via email. "Staff" refers to Bailey's job coach.
Good Morning Team,
I wanted to give an update on Bailey Donaldson. We can discuss more at our meeting on Monday, but quite a bit has transpired. CHOICE Employment has been observing a manager at Pizza Ranch mis treating Bailey, being disrespectful, and not treating her appropriately. One example would be last week when this situation happened,
"Staff witnessed Lisa was at the cash register, complaining to customers that she will try to have tables available once tables are clean, Then Lisa told the customers, it doesn't help that they sent me the worst possible one to help(while gesturing towards Bailey)! Staff observed Bailey the entire time she was out in the dining room picking up dishes from the table. Lisa snapped her fingers at Bailey and rudely said “you need to pick up the pace, people are waiting”. Bailey did not respond but continued to walk to the kitchen and set the dishes on the end of the sink. Lisa then followed Bailey to the kitchen and rudely said “grab a tub and fill it up”. Bailey walked out towards the dining room and staff encouraged Bailey to grab a tub(idv). Staff continued to observe Bailey ask customers if they had dirty dishes ready to take. Bailey was doing a good job looking for dirty dishes to take. Staff observed while Bailey was out picking dishes up off the tables, Lisa went out to the customers sitting at the long table and apologized to them for having such awful help and said “we have idiots here” and gestured towards Bailey. Staff praised Bailey for doing a great job and making sure to ask customers if they were finished before taking the dishes. Lisa then rudely told staff to keep Bailey in the back since she was not doing things the correct way. "
My husband spoke with John, the owner. He said this woman does that to everyone including himself when she's stressed. That's no excuse. Her name is Lisa Klegseth. John refuses to discipline her at all. If this is the type of person he wishes to employ than he will no longer get our business.
I ask you to please share our story. Let them know this is unacceptable. To bully someone that can't defend themselves is lower than low. Most people that meet Bailey, just adore her. Please, share this for her. She desrves so much better.
Thanks...
Read moreAbsolutely would give negative stars if I could — this place doesn’t even deserve zero. We rolled into Decorah Pizza Ranch around 3 PM, stomachs growling and ready to eat, only to be greeted by the rudest host I’ve ever encountered. Not a single other customer in sight, yet we were told it would be “at least a 30-minute wait” — seriously? The guy basically shrugged us off and said, “I’d just come back at five if I were you,” like he couldn’t be bothered to do his job. No explanation, no courtesy, no effort — just pure indifference.
His attitude made it crystal clear that our gluten-free request would have been treated with the same level of apathy, if not worse. So we bailed and hit Culver’s instead, where the staff was kind, helpful, and actually acted like they wanted our business. The food there? Fantastic.
Moral of the story: skip the Pizza Ranch drama and take your appetite somewhere that respects both your time and your dietary needs. Decorah Pizza...
Read moreStars are solely for the food. Staff is not friendly, and manager looking man was very odd. Food was mediocre to other Pizza Ranch's we have visited. Very small buffet and choices. Made a special order per their prompt and was brought half of it incorrect and then another pizza later for the other half. Carpeted floor is horrendous and there was a leak in the ceiling. When I pointed out the leak the staff shrugged at me and made no attempts to care about it. Also despite a small supper crowd and a lot of workers walking around, they refused to grab plates until we had stacked a VERY good amount of the empty table opposite us. We were from out of town but when we come back to Decorah, we will not...
