Decorah Bicycles — Local services in Decorah

This place is awesome! My husband and I were in town for Labor Day weekend and stopped in to check out the shop. We noticed a map of the Trout Run Trail around Decorah. We were instantly intrigued and asked Josie about it. She was very helpful and gave us all the information about it. It sounded fun so we decided to rent a couple of their e-bikes the next day to ride the trail.

When we returned the next day, Travis got us all set up with the bikes and explained how to use them. After riding lesser-quality e-bikes in several other cities on bike tours, we weren’t expecting high quality bikes from here either, but boy were we surprised! These guys had really nice Specialized Como e-bikes for us to use. They were so easy to use and made the ride feel effortless. We had so much fun riding them that we rode the 11-mile loop three times! We also rode into town and stopped somewhere to grab lunch.

I can’t describe how much fun I had riding their e-bikes on the trail. Going up hills was super easy and didn’t feel like work at all. I experienced the joy I felt when I was a kid and used to ride my bike everywhere. Best of all, I could keep up with my husband who is an avid cyclist. He really enjoyed it, too, and even commented that he might want to get an e-bike. I definitely see an e-bike in my future.

I bought a used e-bike a few years back in 2019 from someone who had bought it at Decorah Bikes. She had medical issues and decided she wasn’t able to ride it. Long story short, this spring I turned on the bike and my display wasn’t working. Come to find out the displays had a problem and the manufacturer was longer in business. Here comes the good part, I’ve are 2 hours from Decorah so I tried all the local bike shops looking for help and advice. Their only advice was to bring the bike in for a $250 new display. I finally called Decorah Bikes and Travis said, “well you are welcome to have a couple of old displays we took off some bikes for free.” WOW, we were even the original owner. Josie was amazing and had remember my call and had already set aside the displays. We will definite buy all our future bikes...

I have purchased several bikes from Decorah Bicycles over the years and they have always gone above and beyond to take care of me and others in the store at the same time. Communication has also been great through the order and buying process. When I have had need for a last minute checkup, they have offered to do it if time allowed. I knew it may not work out at the last minute, but I asked and it ended up being a quick fix. Had it not been, I knew they would get to it as soon as they could. They are ALWAYS fair and work with great integrity. I don't live in Decorah, but I go out of my way to patronize their store because I know they will take great care of me.
