Our family of 4 arrived for dinner at about 7PM on a Saturday night. PARKING: The parking lot was super dark, but there was plenty of parking. WAIT TIME: we signed in and waited about 10 min before being seated. Not bad, after all the food smelled delicious! ATMOSPHERE: Right away, we noticed this young staff member greeting people as they walked in. We’ve been to other restaurants where you’re completely ignored as they run around working. The music and mood was just right. You could see part of the staff towards the kitchen working. They looked as if they really liked their job. The art on the walls looked amazing! ORDERING: once we were seated, our waiter, promptly brought us cups of water, and proceeded to take our drink order along with the chips and guacamole, then promptly returned for our meal order. The hustle was there! FOOD: The chips were fresh and crunchy! The guacamole, did not taste homemade, but after living here in Guam for over a year, we know how hard it is to get fresh avocados 🤷♀️. The fact that this Mexican restaurant actually had chips was a plus. We used to go to another restaurant and they always said they had no chips which was a bummer. 🥤 we ordered the drink horchata, it was sooo yummy! 🤤 The food came out fast from appetizer to the meal we probably waited 10 minutes. I got the carnitas bowl which was very filling and delicious. I could also taste a bit of spiciness in there. I like spicy though, so it was not a problem, others may have to ask how spicy the food is before they order. My kids ordered chicken quesadillas. They did say it was delicious, I had one kid that wasn’t able to finish the meal because they said it was too spicy but the older kid finished it just fine. :) the quesadillas were big and chunky! PRICING: 💵 we spent $86 for 4 people, 4 main courses, 4 drinks & 1 appetizer. We spent wayyyy less than other Mexican restaurants we’ve been around here and overall had a way better experience 💫 RECOMMENDATION: Try it! We would...
Read moreI had the nachos no meat added & the Birria French Dip. The location is fine, convenient. The vibe is fine. The employees I dealt with fine. The prices, ok Guam, dinner price normal. Food portions adequate for the price. Okay, now the two performance ratings and I do want to be fair. Spices, Taste, & execution. I'm divided, the ingredients of the naches were all there, my problem was the execution. Everything, chips, refritos, guac, cheese, salsas where served at room temperature poured over the room temp chips, not one iota of heat / warmth was used on anything. The flavors were good but since there was not a single thing at temperature it tasted like that five-layer mexican dip salad we make back in Texas to serve at parties but in Texas we worship fresh warmed crispy chips on nachos. Not here. This was not real nachos by nacho standards but Mexican food on Guam is not a impressive market. The Birria French Dip taste was spicy but not nuclear and the predipped so called french bread was tough as my shoe, not cut in two to eat so it was one big spicy hot mess, brisket was okay but not as tender as I wanted so trying to eat the sandwich was not fun nor that good an experience. If you are going to do a messy sandwich, it needs to rock your world. Getting hands all messy fighting tough as leather bun and somewhat tough brisket was not rocking my world. I want to try something different next time as there are other cool looking items. The side dipping au jus was weak and irrelevant. I usually drink up the au jus and love it. Sorry, maybe another person would have rocked on...
Read moreI recently visited Gringos and had a somewhat mixed experience. While the atmosphere was modern and the vibes were great, there were several aspects of my visit that left me disappointed.
Firstly, I arrived shortly after the restaurant opened, but despite this, there was a significant delay in receiving our food. We had to wait approximately 25-30 minutes, which was quite frustrating.
Moving on to the food itself, I was particularly disappointed with the birria taco. It lacked the expected flavor and failed to meet my expectations. Similarly, the Diablo taco shrimp also fell short in terms of taste and flavor. These dishes failed to deliver the memorable flavors that I had hoped for.
On a more positive note, the al pastor taco stood out with its generous portion of meat. The flavorful and ample serving of meat was a highlight of the meal and provided a satisfying experience.
However, the most disappointing aspect of the visit was the chips and salsa. The tortilla chips were stale, giving the impression that they were either store-bought or leftover from the previous day. Fresh and crispy chips are an essential component of any Mexican dining experience, and the subpar quality of the chips detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Despite these disappointments, I must commend the staff for their hospitality. The service was attentive and friendly, contributing positively to the overall dining experience. Thank you for the meal and hope to visit again for an...
