In all my years of eating at 4Bees restaurants (I will admit they haven't been abundant) I have NEVER walked away and left my food on the plate. #1 sat us down and brought our drinks and left. #2 came over and took our order. I ordered the Senior Pork Chop dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy. My daughter and her SO ordered Meatloaf with potatoes and gravy. Then # 2 left. A few minutes later, #3 came by and asked what side we would like... I chocked it up as, the first two were in training..no loss, no fowl. Our food came (I had asked for gravy on the side). I put a spoonful on my potatoes and was really surprised to taste a LOT of salt in the gravy..!! Pushed it aside and tried the porkchop and it was also salty. I don't know what happened in the kitchen but adding salt to a meal should be done.by the diner. My daughters meatloaf wasn't burned but it was black..!!! And the taste and texture was way off. Now for the men's bathroom. Mike came back from there and was disgusted by what he saw. The bathroom should be a disgrace and they should either RETRAIN or REPLACE the janitor. I did it for a living for awhile and seeing the pictures was insane..anyway, we will not be visiting this restaurant again..(we...
Read moreWe have been in the Deerlodge 4B's restaurant 3 times over the past year just for the tomato soup. Sad to say we were disappointed all 3 times. I let the waitress know the first two times the soup was not made correctly! This last time I didn't say anything, figured if I put it in the rating it MIGHT help.
The cream was added while the base was too hot and not enough baking soda to remove the acidity from the tomatoes. That is key to this soup!!
I have the original recipe for the 4B's tomato soup from when I worked at 4B's. My mom worked there as prep cook and cook. Heck, lots of my family worked there! I'll add the recipe that was given to customers back in the day, I have the big batch one in storage somewhere, I'll continue to make my smaller batches, that way I know I'm getting the real thing! Maybe the prep cooks need to practice how to make it right, slow down, and follow the directions! Make the Deerlodge restaurant proud to serve that soup again!!!
Put Deerlodge back on the map for the best original tomato soup! There are very few 4B's left, get them back to the quality food status they used to be!!! My matador...
Read moreMy waitress (deb) was gorgeous, and quick on her feet. The Ruben sandwich was 98% accurate to the way it should be made and took them less than 10 minutes to complete. The signature tomatoe soup was very delicious and I ordered some to go, and the coffee was just okay. The atmosphere is a cozy cafe. The view is great. There are regulars at the cafe table that are mostly cattle hauling truckers. Only reason it gets 4 stars is because a Ruben sandwich, coffee, tomatoe soup, plus a bowl to go came to $15 ($9 for just the Ruben meal which includes a cup of the soup) which is about as high as I would pay for a basic meal, and that would usually be in a place that's not a basic diner. However, I'd eat here again and probably just avoid takeout next time, while drinking only water. I watched them use country crock to butter people's toast so it is also obvious that some corners do get cut, but maybe you think country crock is superior to something like whipped butter anyways, so I'll leave it for...
