This is a long, convoluted review, but TL;DR I won't be visiting this Skyline ever again (after ~15 visits.)
I love Skyline and I absolutely have favorite locations--there is no possible way this one falls into that category for anyone. When we first moved to the area, we frequented this Skyline because it was the closest to our house. 3 of the first 5 times I visited this location I found a hair in my food. (3 out of 5!!!!) I immediately told my wife, co-workers, and anyone that would listen that this location was on my "ban list."
For years, we happily drove to the one on 48 and the one by Home Depot on Escort Drive. Both of those locations: fantastic! Have them fill your Skyline needs--they're great.
After a few years, friends asked if we would meet up for Skyline at this location. It had been a few years, so I decided to give them a shot. In the past 4 months since then, I would say we've visited 4 or 5 times.
All-in-all it's been good, not great. Probably like a 3.5. On every occasion, I haven't felt a great deal of friendliness and the place always has some level of chaos going on. One bad night because someone called off, an extra few groups visited, or a product being out is completely justified. But it's a pattern here where a.) they aren't friendly like you expect at Skyline and b.) it feels stressful in the drive-thru/kitchen/counter area. It's -never- smooth.
Last night while checking out, the stressors were at full capacity. There was a woman trying to fill drinks, do something in drive-thru, bag an order ahead of me, AND check me out for my bill (all at once.) While this is commendable on some level, they really needed an additional person working, someone to step in and alleviate all of these spinning plates, or some training involved so that it could step-by-step to complete a task before taking on the next one.
In the midst of this, my credit card got lost. It's definitely my fault, but I haven't lost a credit card in 22 years. Not a problem, I figured I would just call them to confirm it's there before I show up and, apparently, add to their chaos.
Well, I called today at 8:00pm. I figured the dinner rush would have started slowing down and it would be a fair time for a phone call. The call was answered and when I asked about my card, the gentleman on the phone rudely said, "I'm too busy right now, could you call back in 30 minutes?" I was pretty put off by this, but I work in a restaurant and understand where attention is needed sometimes at that moment. I said that I would and hung up.
I called a little more than 30 minutes later and a woman answered. I explained that I was asked to call back and without having to relay the story, the guy in an even MORE rude way said, "Just take his name and number and tell him we'll call him." It's been an hour, I still don't have a phone call, and I really doubt that I'm going to get one.
I'll never be back to this location between the hair in the food, the bad customer service, and flat-out chaos that is always present, it's not...
Read moreI grew up in Cincinnati but have lived in Colorado for over 30 years now. One of my favorite things to do when I come home to visit is to have Skyline Chili. Last week, I came to this Skyline (I believe for the furst time) to have dinner with my folks. While there, I inquired about the t-shirts that they were selling. Ruthie (the gm) overheard our conversation and came over to offer assistance. She recommended two locations that may be able to help me, as her location did not have my size. She was very helpful and stayed talking to us for a bit. This table visit is an example of the old fashioned friendliness and hospitality that you rarely see anymore. After I left, I was successful at finding a shirt in my size at one of the locations that Ruthie had recommended. Not wanting to let her assistance go by un-thanked, I returned a few days later to have lunch and let Ruthie know that, thanks to her, I had luck finding a shirt. This time I was dining alone. Skylar was my server. She was very attentive and served me quickly and efficiently. I was able to again speak with Ruthie and I thanked her for her assistance. Might I add that the chili was exceptional. While dining, I noted how all of the employees were working hard and tending to the restaurant's needs. This seems to be a very well run Skyline, and I intend to return on my future visits. Thank you to the Landen Skyline team! Keep up the excellence! See you...
Read moreLet me start by saying I frequent various Skylines in the Mason/Maineville area. This location stands out as an outlier in poor service.
First of all, it seems the dining room is always empty. This of course is not a valid complaint on its face, but upon walking in all employee chatter immediately ceases and is replaced only by whispers and the occasional chuckle. Not a good vibe. For example, the Rt. 48 location is always lively with a medium atmosphere and employees communicating in a manner conducive to an effective kitchen.
Second, the food quality is lower. Colder chili, less cheese, a charge for requesting to correct amount of cheese ($1 for the very small dish whereas other locations bring a medium sized dish in the first place and do not charge for an additional small dish)
Third, the last three servers I have interacted with (started paying attention specifically around that time) have had nothing but a flat face, flat tone, and overall air of dissatisfaction with the presence of a patron. A poor attitude not cured by a generous tip I feel is due in these current times of Coronavirus restrictions.
In short, drive the extra
