Deerfield Coffeehouse — Restaurant in Deerfield

This is one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. Their seasonal drinks, as well as their classic drinks are sweet but still taste like coffee. I don't drink just black coffee, so I can't say if theirs is better or worse than other places. Their food is delicious, though. Breakfast and lunch have a variety of choices. For breakfast, they serve sandwiches, bowls, waffles, baked goods, etc. My favorite is their salmon avocado toast. It's 9 dollars for one slice, but the slice loaded. No other coffee shops avocado toast compares. For lunch, they have wraps and sandwiches. They give a variety of different bread options. The staff is very accommodating to changes, as well. I've been going consistently for about two years, and all of the staff has been professional and friendly. I took off a star for atmosphere because the coffee shop is small, so when it gets busy, it's loud. However, there's plenty of places to sit with friends and family. The play area was absolutely disgusting. My 1 year old kept picking up old food scraps and random pieces of broken toys. The carpet looked like it hasn’t been vacuumed in months. My son sat down and had stuff all over his pants.

Unrelated to the play area, my 1 year old has a dairy allergy and ordered everything dairy-free but the staff failed to mention that their scrambled eggs are made with milk. Thankfully I had a feeling when they came to the table and asked before we ate them. Was told they would refund the eggs but not sure if that happened yet in my account.

First time visiting this coffee house, and everything was on point — from the inviting atmosphere when I walked in, to the friendly service from the front counter staff, cook, and barista. The food and coffee were both excellent.

I ordered the waffle with whipped honey and cinnamon, which was recommended by the staff, and it definitely did not disappoint. It was light, not overly sweet — just as described. I also got another waffle with fruit to go (thanks to the BOGO deal) and a bagel breakfast sandwich, which I ate a few hours later — and I’m glad I did, because it meant two incredible meals in one visit.

The coffee was exactly what I was hoping for — thick, rich, and full-flavored for a medium roast.
