We went to Rise and Shine for the first time tonight 07/29/2020, They have only been open a week and a half at this point. First impression was the place looked great, very nice layout, nice tables and booths and flooring. I was a little surprised that there was still construction dust on the window ledges and the back of booths. We were greeted as we walked in, everybody was friendly. It was clear that our waitress was new to this job. She was friendly but did not know the menu. She could not tell us what sides came with the meals or if they had some items. She was prompt with our drinks and salads and soup. The salad was simple just lettuce one slice of cucumber and one slice of tomato and some cheese, the ranch dressing was very good. The soups were very good, however no bread basket which I expect with soup and salad and full meals. As we waited for our meal to be served the waitress came to the table several times. It took a long time for our food to be brought out to us. we waited about 50 minutes after placing the order. We ordered 3 of their specials. It was not busy, only 3 tables and us, they had 3 waitresses working, it was only 4pm on a Wednesday. My wife ordered the open faced turkey which came out cold, I had the fried cod, which was hot and good. A little over cooked and the waitress failed to bring out the potato, in fact she didn't know it came with veggie and potato, however my son ordered the boiled cod and she brought out his veggie and potato. He said his food was hot and very good. I think what had happened is they made my wife's meal first and had it sitting until the fish meals were done, causing it to get cold. We did not complain to the waitress because as i said it was clear it was her first waitress job and the restaurant had only been open a little over a week. So we were understanding of the situation. The prices were what we expected for this type of restaurant. This is a good location, good parking and parking lot. Over all for just opening I would give it 3 1/2 stars. We will be going back. I want to try their breakfast and fish fry. I hope they read this and continue to improve the service. I enjoy these type of places over the big chain places. I wish...
Read moreRestaurant wasn't crowded, though to be fair it was 3pm on a Saturday, admittedly a weird time to be eating. Very clean, including the bathroom too. It was nice and quiet, which I really liked. My wife and I were having a date day, so it's nice to be able to have a conversation without loud clanking, annoying music, etc.
Service was as good as you could ask for; very friendly, very fast. You can tell it's family-owned, as the staff has a stake in the success of the restaurant, and I can certainly appreciate that. There was that sweet spot of having time to look at their (very extensive) menu, and not having to wait too long to order. Food came out quickly and piping hot as well, and the timings of the waitress's checkups were perfect.
The food. Oh man! The Greek skillet was nuts, in a good way! Perfect portions, delicious side of pancakes, everything I'd ever want in breakfast food. I ordered a side of bacon, because come on. Bacon. :) It was nice and thick cut, PERFECTLY made (not floppy and gross, not burnt either). My wife got a veggie omelette, and while she has significant dietary restrictions, had no trouble whatsoever, and very much enjoyed her dinner as well. Again, perfect portions and wonderfully prepared.
Despite living in the area, I'm not entirely sure how long this has been here, but in my opinion they deserve success. It is worth checking out these family-owned restaurants, because as in this case, it's a delightful departure from the boring usual of chain...
Read moreI just had the worst experience! I am not one to leave reviews. This is only the 2nd time in my life leaving a negative review but this was ridiculous! I ordered the hot turkey dinner with chicken and rice soup. The soup was the consistency of condensed soup before you add the water. Let me add it was lukewarm. I told the waiter and asked for a side salad. What was served was laughable! A handful of iceberg lettuce with 1 tomato wedge and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. Even the house made greek dressing was bad! It was chopped olives with a little olive oil and oregano. Now comes the Hot Turkey. There was nothing hot about it. When our waiter finally came over to ask how everything tasted I replied “Cold”! He says” Oh let me take care of that and takes my plate.. He comes back a few minutes later and proceeds to tell me it should be better now because they heated it up in the microwave. Really? If I wanted microwaved food I would have stayed home. Now the top of my meal is warm and the stuffing underneath was still cold. I made it clear it was not satisfactory. No offer was to rectify the issue. What boggles my mind was the owners/ Managers where right there. They didn't come over to see what the issue was? I paid full price and left there disgusted! I will never return. I am more upset by their lack of customer service than the bad food. Hopefully my dogs...
