Crooked Horns Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Cortland Township

Right when we entered we debated on leaving. The hostess assumed it would just be the 2 of us that walked in, we politely notified her that we were actually in a group of 5 the other 3 would arrive shortly. When we said that she visibly paused, rolled her eyes and then proceeded to grab more menus. Not a great start but maybe our waitress/server will be great.

We were seated in the far back right corner, and after about 2-5mins our waitress came and took our drink order and brought over silverware. Pretty normal, all good.

We waited for around 20mins, at least 15 of those minutes our full group was present. We still hadn’t received our 2 soft drinks, and no food was put in. We called a staff member over to notify them that we were ready to order and were again met with a little pushback. The vibe of this interaction was more like ‘oh your being dramatic we’ll get you soon’ which I get, cause now at this point the post-church rush is arriving, and maybe they thought that we were genuinely just seated. These were not direct words said to us but more so the body language and energy of the interaction. We left soon after this because we clearly were not going to get anywhere and it was going to continue to damper a good day.

I have no doubt this place can be great, we have ordered takeout from here that was ordered and arrived quicker than our service in restaurant. This was honestly disappointing since we have heard some great things about this place and wanted to give it a try in person, nonetheless for a lowkey small family...

Food was good, but cocktails were not and definitely not worth the cost. Our server was excellent, however the manager was NOT! We had a couple mishaps that were not addressed very well. 1) A bbq chicken sandwich was ordered and they served it up without bbq, but our server made it right by bringing a side of bbq. Manager added $1 for this “open side” even though they forgot it! Who does that?!?! 2) The steak and three shrimp was ordered off their “specials menu” and they forgot the shrimp. Our server brought out a plate of 6 shrimp instead of the three, which we thought was very nice and their way of fixing the issue. NOPE! Not the case at all. We were charged full price for the steak dinner and extra for the six shrimp. We asked to talk to the manager and our server came back saying that the manager refused to talk to us and wouldn’t fix the bill because the steak was bigger than what the “special” would have been served and that 6 shrimp were served instead of the three. WTH? 🤦🏽‍♀️ This was their error and the manager is going to refuse to fix it AND speak to us after kindly asking to do so twice. The server came back after the second time with cash in hand to make the situation right. We questioned whether or not this was coming out of her pocket and she said it wasn’t, but we have our doubts. She did her best to make it right but the lousy management didn’t. Food is good, service not so much. We have been here 3 times, loved the breakfast, but waitress seemed annoyed by simple menu questions. When I asked to add sausage to my garden skillet she seemed to judge that? She barely came to the table … long wait for check. Food was good and fun options so brought my mom for Mother’s Day, why not try again. We ordered…. And waited and waited… after 45 min I realized the other tables sat after us were eating…. So I had to flag down my waitress . Apparently they forgot to make our food. 20 min later we had it. Good food, but no apology for forgetting us. Decided to try lunch today… again good food. Waitress hardly came to the table at all. Had to flag her down to get a drink refill. Took forever to bring the check. Finally got it said she’d be back to get it…. 10 minutes she’s nowhere to be seen. So we just go wait at the cashier area… maybe I misunderstood. Finally after sometime a waitress came up to ring us out. While the food is good, I’d rather pay for good food and...
