I’m gonna put this RIIIIGHT HERE!! Zacatecas Restaurant shame on you!!!! The few times I went there I had great experience. family friendly and professional, up until today. I order 2 pozole Picked up order, made a stop by the store on my way home, got back in car & this horrible smell was there. I had on 2 masks and could still smell it. It was the onions. I was too far away to go back so I just tossed them out. I got home, opened the cabbage and soup to make sure they weren't spoiled and the cabbage was spoiled as well and limes were dried up. The soup was ok. A little bland but ok. I decided to call them especially when I noticed the items weren'tfresh., I started my conversation by telling him how much I love their establishment but wanted to give heads up about the spoiled items and he basically talked over me, very loudly saying everything was freshly cut today. I said, well someone missed the mark and how bad the onions smelled. He loudly said, well, we cut fresh and he didn't believe me but if I want him to be a liar ok fine and he hung up in my face because they gave me spoiled items. WOW! I was really really shocked at his reaction because I've never had that experience there. They just lost a customer. I wish I had gotten his name but I'm pissed because pozole isn't enjoyed the same without the trimmings. This is exactly why I don't eat out a lot but I've been too sick to cook and thought some hot pozole would help.🤦🏽‍♀️ I'd been better off opening my Campbell's Chicken noodle soup and saved my $37 and my gas. You definitely have to have the shrimp filled with cheese and wrapped in bacon. It is called Veracruz. If you're feeling super adventurous you might try the agua shrimp, but prepare for some heat. The wait staff was super helpful and made it clear to us what the various items were on the menu. They went so far as to even bring out a bit of the sauce from the agua shrimp so we would know what we were getting ourselves into. That was basically a salad bathed in a slightly spicy green sauce. I say you should be adventurous because the shrimp in the salad are completely raw and don't get cooked by the lemon in the green sauce. But, you can play it safe and get the bacon wrapped shrimp all day long. I definitely want to come back and try a number of different items, but I will probably end up still trying to get the bacon wrapped shrimp because they were so delicious. While we were at the restaurant another couple was supposed to bring appetizers to a party in San Diego so they ordered 50 of the cheese stuffed and bacon wrapped shrimp on their own to take with them. I think that I might try that next time, but the party is going to be in my house and I'm the only person invited. One more tip. Do yourself a favor and try the horchata. The service here is outstanding. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted warmly and enthusiastically. The staff seem genuinely happy you're there. I tried this place for the first time at lunchtime on a Friday. The place was pretty packed when I walked in (good sign!). I was immediately seated and asked what I'd like to drink. I ordered a horchata which was delightful and not overly sweet. They also offer free refills. Complimentary chips and (delicious) fresh salsa arrived in less than a minute. Their menu is pretty expansive with a good variety of Mexican fare. I decided on the quesabirria tacos (3) and consume since I had read such great reviews about them. They didn't disappoint! Hot crispy corn tortillas filled with succulent and juicy meat and melted cheese, served with a flavorful consume for dipping. There was even some fried cheese stuck to the outside of the tacos which I thoroughly enjoyed. They were a pretty decent size and I was full after eating two of the tacos so I took the third one home to enjoy later.
