We went with another couple to Memo's for dinner on a Thursday night, right at opening. The food was tasty, nothing to blow your socks off, but tasty. What stood out the most for us, from the moment we arrived, was the service. It was really poor. A very nice lady asked us how many when we came in, and as she went to try to find us a nice table, she asked one of the servers who was putting silverware on a table 'Is 1 reserved?' (I should note at this point there was not another soul in the restaurant.)The server looked our way, looked fairly bored, annoyed, something, shrugged, and said 'I don't know.' I jokingly told my partner as we were seated I really hoped she wasn't our server. Lo and behold, she was. (Kudos to the nice lady who sat us, and tried to diffuse the obvious rudeness.) Our other couple arrived, and from that point on, it was just slow, unfriendly service. Glasses stayed empty for long periods. All the food arrived very timely, and hot, but that was really the only service we got. I went to the bar to ask for the check, as it had been awhile and we needed to be going. I stood at the bar for a good three minutes, with 3 wait/bar staff behind the bar, and was not once acknowledged. Upon return to the table, she was at a table near ours, and we were able to get her attention. When she finally returned with the check, we immediately handed her a credit card without looking at the bill, because we weren't sure when we'd see her again, and had another nice long wait before she returned our credit card and we could leave. There are FAR too many tasty Mexican restaurants in Del Rio to need to tolerate rude/bored service on a night when really, all we want to do is have a tasty meal and chat with...
Read moreThe food had no flavor.
Ordered a coffee. When it came out it had that distinct instantly coffee smell. The waiter confirmed it was instant coffee.
So changed my beverage to a Topo Chico. The lime that was brought with it was clearly old.
The salsa was mostly watery tomato. The chips were ok.
Ordered the three tacos that came with rice and beans. The beans tasted like they had been in the fridge or freezer too long and had lost their bean taste. Almost tasted like dehydrated beans that were rehydrated. Although I've had dehydrated beans that tasted better. Properly seasoning goes a long way.
The rice had no seasoning, tasted bland.
The tacos had chicken that tasted like it was from a slow cooker but with no seasoning. The iceberg lettuce, sliced of tomato, and yellow cheese didn't help. The tacos were on a taco holder, which typically is used for hard shell tacos. These ones were soft and clearly dipped in oil.
The view is the only thing that was good.
First time here and it was a...
