I am writing this review because the Philly Diner Restaurant Manager had commented that they liked 5 Stars on their reviews. I had only gave them 3 stars with no written review. This review is in no way meant with any malice, but rather to let the Manager of the establishment understand My 3 Star rating. To the Manager of Philly Diner: You have not walked around your establishment if you are asking for 5 Stars instead of the 3 Stars I gave from Our visit on 05-18-2022. 1. Parking in the parking lot, and walking up to the door, It is locked with not sign indicating to go to front. Go to front and try door it is locked. We were about to leave but all the cars in the parking lot says they are open. A regular customer walks up and shows us a 3rd door to get in. Service person inside says it's fun to watch people try doors. 2. One person is taking orders, bring out food, taking cash register duties, and cleaning tables. She was not happy with how the day is going at all, and They let us know about it. Another person appeared to periodically clean tables. I don't know if they were cooking also. 3. Bathrooms...Should be cleaned on a daily basis. Toilets should be cleaned daily. Their are 2 Soap dispensers, but struggled to get one of them to work at all. I was able to wash my hands. Inside of bathroom door is filthy from hands grabbing it. 4. Baseboards in dining area filthy in more than one area. The tables and everything on it was Clean. The coffee was very Good. The Food was very Good. I had the 3 Eggs with Chopped Steak, and Hash browns. The eggs were perfect. The chopped steak was good. The Hash browns soggy, but ok. I have been to this restaurant several times, and the food has always been very good, Especially the Burgers, They are fantastic. I will not be deterred from coming back to the Philly Diner because of this visit. It is a well know, and fine establishment, but on this day, It only...
Read moreIf you're a fan of the city of Philadelphia, you'll love the pictures and memorabilia that they have on the walls. They also have plenty of tv's to watch sporting events on as well. The atmosphere, to me, seemed kind of cozy and 'homie'. They have a 'bar' just inside of the front door. The food was flavorful, albeit was luke warm by the time that it hit the table. I had an 8" cheesesteak with green peppers and a cherry Coke. Total: $12.34, so it wasn't really expensive, thank goodness. What really ruined the entire experience and solidified my decision to NEVER RETURN AGAIN was the absolutely ABYSSMAL service!! After my party of (3) sat ourselves, it took an easy 10 minutes before the waitress came to our table for our drink order. It should be noted that the place was near empty at that time. Once we placed our drink order, three more parties came in and seated themselves. The waitress had zero issue with immediately taking their drink orders and then came back to our table for our food order. She then disappeared. After approximately 8 more minutes, she re-emerged from the wherever world with our drinks. She then took the other 3 parties' food order and promptly brought their drinks out. Approximately 15 minutes after that, the other 3 parties began to receive their food while my party, which had been seated and ordered ahead of those 3, sat there and watched them begin to eat. Another 10 minutes rolled by before our food was brought to the table. It took over an hour to get 2 cheesesteaks, 2 sodas, a glass of water, 3 scrambled eggs and a couple pieces of bacon. Also, a person in my party caught the waitress and asked for a drink refill, which he never received, because the waitress was too busy wanting to socialize with the people at the other 3 tables. This was extremely frustrating and totally unacceptable. Because of the piss poor service, I will NEVER BE BACK nor recommend this...
Read moreThis review is sort of tricky because if the review was solely on the food I’d give it a four or five stars if the review was on the service I would give it negative stars. The establishment itself is definitely not fine dining by any stretch of the imagination which is fine however, the older woman who served us was not very friendly was very short with us and gave a lot of we don’t have any of that, I don’t know, we only have a couple beer choices. 🤷🏻♀️ I asked for coleslaw she said we don’t have that(coleslaw & potato salad was listed as a side option to the philly on the menu) I was asking what sides I could get with my Philly she basically said salad or fries. I didn’t notice there was onion rings on the menu and I seen someone else with onion rings which looked more appetizing than the fries when I mentioned to her oh I didn’t see onion rings on the menu she got a very sarcastic tone and got an attitude and said oh maybe we need to put up a sign! Then I don’t know if she thought she was being funny but it was pretty rude she comes back with a piece of paper with onion rings written on it stuck in a fork. Also, the 1st cup of water I had seemed OK but then when I needed a refill the 2nd cup of water she brought tasted of chemicals when I told her this instead of getting me a new water she just simply dumped the water in a to go cup not sure what that was about I also used the women’s restroom and found out that they did not have any hand soap at all which was disturbing I did mention it and they did refill it. Overall if I was ever to eat there again I definitely would get my food to go definitely not anywhere I want to go sit inside...
