We chose Harry's Savoy Grill for our anniversary, hoping for a great dining experience, but unfortunately, we left disappointed. The food was inconsistent, the dress code was confusing and not enforced, and the service was underwhelming. For the price, there are much better options if you're willing to drive a bit farther.
Overall Ratings:
Restaurant: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Food: 3/5 Parking: Free parking lot
Restaurant Atmosphere:
The restaurant looks impressive from the outside, but the interior feels dated. When we made our reservation—and even received a reminder 24 hours before—we were informed of a "Smart Casual" dress code. However, upon arrival, nearly half the guests were in jeans and t-shirts, making it clear that the policy is not enforced.
Service:
We were seated promptly, but our waitress lacked engagement, and the service felt very average. In a fine dining establishment at this price point, I would expect at least a brief rundown of the menu or daily specials—neither of which were provided.
What We Ordered:
-New England Clam Chowder – Just okay, and served lukewarm. -French Onion Soup – Overly salty and tasted like it was microwaved. -Harry’s Signature Filet Oscar – While the steak itself was cooked perfectly, the béarnaise sauce was just average. We substituted asparagus for broccoli rabe, which was completely bland, lacking even a sprinkle of salt or pepper. The "jumbo lump" crab meat was a letdown—it tasted like canned crab meat, lacked freshness, and felt like an afterthought on the plate. For a $70 "signature dish," this was extremely disappointing. -Prime Rib – This was actually very good, and the dipping sauce complemented it well. However, it only came with au gratin potatoes—no vegetables, which felt incomplete for an entrée at this level.
Final Thoughts:
The experience reminded me of Creed’s in King of Prussia—a restaurant that tries to be fine dining but seems unsure of its identity. The lack of dress code enforcement, average food quality, and poor attention to detail make it hard to justify the high prices. I noticed more staff standing around than actually serving guests, and our water was only refilled once...
Read moreHarry's Savoy Grill was an ideal restaurant for an anniversary date night. Even after many years of being around, the restaurant is lovely and well maintained. The front entrance is attractive and only has a couple of steps going in, which I thought were fine for me.
I didn't realize that once I got inside and had to go to the tables, I would be going down more than a handful of steps. I told my husband I was having one of my better days and weeks, so I would go ahead and navigate the steps, but he shared with me where another entrance is to the restaurant. He was aware of these from visiting for past work functions.
As my other reviews hone in on accessibility and comfort for elderly, those with limitations and illnesses, I'm happy to share this information with those visiting for the first time. There's parking in the front—which is where we happened to be, but there's also parking around the side and the back of the restaurant. You'll find those parking areas close to an entrance readily accessible for all with canes, walkers, wheelchair etc.
Back to the experience inside, we were there on a Friday night and seated immediately because we had our reservation. Although it was busy, the seating tables have a nice amount of space between them you can enjoy your conversation and your dinner without feeling like you're going to bump into someone else or feel as if they overhear everything.
The rolls are fresh baked and delicious. The only thing I wanted was more of it, but I certainly didn't need it. 😁 I ordered the New York strip steak, added on a lobster tail, had the carrots spiced with garam masala, land a crisp, fresh Caesar salad.
My husband's order of ribeye with mushrooms was cooked to perfection. Also, their wine and beer list is extensive enough to find a wonderful pairing with your dinner. Lastly, I enjoyed the creme brulee for dessert along with some coffee. Overall, we had a fantastic night, great food and atmosphere. I know I will be back when that fireplace is on...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I dined here on the evening of July 17th. We arrived close to closing time, around 8:20 PM, knowing the restaurant closes at 9 PM. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by a young hostess who welcomed us with a smile and began checking the seating chart.
During that moment, a young man in a white collared shirt approached the host stand. He didn’t acknowledge us or make eye contact, and his demeanor came across as visibly annoyed. It was an uncomfortable interaction that initially made us question whether we should stay. Thankfully, the young hostess proceeded to seat us with kindness and professionalism, which helped set a better tone for the rest of the evening.
Once seated, our server was fantastic, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The mussels in tomato sauce were especially memorable, absolutely delicious and for me it was the highlight of the evening. My boyfriend ordered the prime rib and I had the filet oscar, both were cooked perfectly and beautifully presented.
After our meal a tall gentleman in a button-down shirt approached our table with a warm and welcoming attitude. The restaurant had technically closed (it was around 9:20 PM), but he encouraged us to try dessert, which we appreciated. (Good salesman too lol) We ended the evening with the crème brûlée and blueberry cobbler.
Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience and would absolutely return. That said, our only concern was the initial interaction with the young man at the host stand. In a fine dining environment, every guest interaction matters, especially during first impressions. His energy did not reflect the otherwise gracious and professional service we received from the rest of the staff. We hope this feedback is helpful for continued staff training and guest experience consistency.
Thank you again to the team for a...
