Cafe Sitaly is a cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant that has some great food and feels like a small-family owned place. Located on the corner of Naamans and Marsh, it's right at the intersection next to a couple other businesses. As mentioned, this is a small, cozy restaurant so you might accidentally miss it. Don't let that deter you though as this is a great place to eat. The restaurant is pretty small with just several tables for service but when I went on a Friday night it wasn't that crowded. There's a counter up front with pizza ready to go or be warmed up for service as well. This makes the atmosphere feel very much like a family restaurant and just as snug. Cafe Sitaly's menu is pretty much what you'd expect for an Italian restaurant with its different entrees, pastas, pizzas, etc. However the price is very good and the portions are generous for the price making this generally good value for your money. The service is also very attentive, with the waitstaff ensuring that you're taken care of and ensuring that your order is right. I also find them very personable and can answer questions you have about the menu and its offerings. For my meal there, I had the manicotti which is one of my favorite meatless dishes and also one many Italian places don't seem to serve. The manicotti comes with a salad and the one I got was nice and fresh and had plenty of veggies included. The bread that is served is a wedge rather than rolls or breadsticks. Despite the unusual shape, I very much enjoyed the roll and it works well with the pasta. The manicotti was very cheesy with a generous portion and plenty of cheese. It was certainly one of the best manicottis I've had and I would certainly come back for just that though I would love to try some of their other menu options. I also like that the seasonings on the table include basil and oregano alongside the usual as I've grown fond of using that to season my Italian dishes. If you're looking for a comfy restaurant that makes you think of an Italian family restaurant, Cafe Sitaly is definitely a good place to check out...
Read moreThis is my second negative experience with service at Cafe Sitaly. First let me say, I am a server myself and have worked from catering, to VIP table service, to fast-paced restaurant service, to casual dining. Upon entering there were 8 employees from the floor to the kitchen, with no one seating, hosting, or directing people crowded by the door. People were waiting for tables, waiting to pay for takeout, and waiting for pickup. Two young adults in charge of this station were on their phones or plating garlic knots and neglecting the growing line of people in the door.
Once I was seated, the average time between seating and ordering a beverage was 10-12 minutes. Some people waited 22 minutes just to place drinks and an appetizer.
When I did place a drink and app, my app did not come out for an additional 27 minutes. We are now 39 minutes into dinner service and the app was asked to be brought out by the server 5 times, which the kitchen “forgot” and “blamed it on her”. Mind you, this young waitress is who I had last time, and has no direction, table management, or aid from her coworkers. So I cannot blame her.
There are 2 people cleaning tables and one person serving 8 tables. Eight. The bussers reset but do not do the least to offer water and bread. The lead waitress also runs food and her counterparts disappear into the kitchen to wait for food or go on their phones (visible to the rest of the restaurant).
Overall the food was fantastic but due to lack of service orderliness I will not return.
I felt extremely bad for the two women next to me who were scolded for asking for a lemon and straws and their order was partially incorrect, as well as the two couples who sat after me who waited 12-17 minutes to place a drink order for water. Followed by 7+ minute periods with no one on the floor.
I enjoy the food but the service and kitchen staff do not have direction and the superfluous staff standing around watching one server drown is uncalled for. Not to mention she needs to shadow someone to become efficient in providing quality service...
Read moreGood food should taste good and also BE good - as in healthy, and they nailed it. I had a veal Cacciatore with a side of garlic knots and it came with a side salad. They use ingredients that are both fresh and of good quality as is a must for good taste.
The tomato sauce they use is made from tomatoes with no extra gooey fillers so it sits light and soaks well into the linguini with no sticky consistency. Veal was tender, linguini was aldente( Mine got a little soft cause i picked it up 20 mins late, but still by no means overcooked). If you order out, get your food fast so the pasta doesn't soften while sitting.
Garlic knots were tasty and tender. The marinara dipping sauce was verrrry delicious- u really must try it. I got a sausage pepperoni slice that was delicious too. the crust cooked just right with a hint of cruchiness, Not too thick or too think or too crunchy(most places can't get this right :(. They use good cheese and toppings and real tomato sauce. I think the quality ingredients and good culinary sense really sets this shop apart.
The restaurant sits at a strip mall by the corner of Marsh and Naamans and they are quite easy to miss but once you eat their you will be sorry for all the times you sped by to catch the light. They have some booth and table sittings that look classy, like someone put a little thought into it. On the whole it is a solid Italian eatery to patronize. The icing on the cake is that they are fairly affordable at mid-lower pricing. You can feed the beast well without...
