Mimi's Sweet Treats, llc — Restaurant in Delta

We stopped in to check out the new ice cream shop. It was fairly chaotic and a bit of a wait. The ordering process seemed to get mixed with the employees. When we were able to get our malts, we decided to go home instead of stay because it was quite warm in the shop, and there were a few unruly families kind of ruining it for everyone. Our malts were not malts, but merely milkshakes and incredibly melted at that, which wasn't overly surprising since even when young lady "scooped" the ice cream from the display, it was completely runny. I went home and added my own malted milk powder to my maltless malt. I think the flavor of the ice cream itself was nice, and there was fresh fruit in the mix. Just wished it was frozen and right. I'm not sure if this is a typical experience, but I do hope it improves. Maybe they will get the kinks...

Mimi's is a nostalgic throw to bellying up to the "malted stand" with Grandpa. We've come five times now with different people and it's always been wonderful!

SERVICE - The staff is well trained and respectful. Thank you for offering opportunities to young people to learn responsibility and work ethic in a service environment!

FOOD - The flavors are unique. Each has a homemade feel (you can still taste some ice crystals from churning). They attempt to source local ingredients and have a number of ongoing incentives with the schools.

ATMOSPHERE - The only reason the environment got 4 stars is the music has been loud at times and more in your face than background. They are continually wiping tables and mopping - shows how sweet the treats are.

It's a popular stop, so don't make it all-about-you if you have to wait in line a little. Servers are often young and school-aged so be kind and patient if they are still learning. The space is quaint and seating is limited during busy times, so be flexible and open to strolling the beautiful downtown or sitting outside to enjoy...
