The pizza is delicious and we have eaten here in past camping trips to the Cape. This time, however, on two different visits there, our people that ordered the exact same thing as us (10 and 15 minutes after we had ordered) were served a pizza before us. The first time, my daughter and I ordered a sub and pasta. Those came out quickly. The pizza took another 1/2 hour. We saw our pizza (we ordered a large cheese 15 minutes prior to this family) get delivered outside. When questioned, we were told it is busy and the pizzas cook at different temps on different shelves. if this story is true, WHY would we not get the first pizza? So much for my family eating together...45 minutes later my daughter and I watched my husband and son eat their dinner. Day two, my son is craving their pizza. We went at 3:30 in the afternoon. My son orders and is told 10-15 minutes. He then watches a family order a pizza and sub a few minutes after him. About 5 minutes later, the small cheese pizza and sub are served and my son has to wait an additional 10 minutes for his pizza. I ask them how this happens two visits in a row and am told it was busy. It was not and when I asked the manager how they do not have a system that ensures first in/first out with the pizzas, the manager rolled his eyes and waved his hand like he didn’t care what I had to say. very poor customer service and they will not have out visits for any future visits...
Read moreI think folks should know how thin this crust is- it’s like a thin cracker. It’s not NY style. I don’t think it could get thinner. So just be prepared for that. So it’s a cracker with cheese and sauce on it, for whatever that’s worth.
For the materials used, I found it overpriced. We ordered a Buffalo chicken pie. There’s a modicum of dough used. A bit of hot sauce. Some cheese. The chicken was diced chopped up tiny bits of chicken. It’s hard to explain. Microscopic cubed chicken? It was odd. If you get the Buffalo chicken it appears to be tomato sauce with hot sauce added, or just hot sauce. It’s not really pure Buffalo sauce because it’s red, not orange, and it’s very spicy. In short, recommend skip the Buffalo pie. Get plain cheese or something to that effect.
The food doesn’t justify the wait, either, IMO. I don’t mind waiting if the food blows it out of the park. This is just kind of normal-ish food. I wouldn’t wait longer than 20 minutes for the food here.
So even though this style of pizza isn’t for me, I’m ignoring that and just basing my review on the execution of the buff chicken pizza and the price and...
Read moreJoey has a restaurant with a nice nostalgic atmosphere. It's across from the Dog House, see my review. Joey has a great food and drink menu. His pizza, Italian food, and other menu items are excellent. One of his specialities is fresh oysters he gets locally. If you are getting delivery or dining in it can be over 1 hour wait after 7pm but it's worth it. Joey's style of pizza and other menu items, plus the nice setting, makes his restaurant a great experience for yourself or your family. I would only recommend Joey have air conditioning in the dining room.
This restaurant was once owned by another Joey. After leaving the location years ago, Joey Cardillo returned to his original location since 1976, and opened Paradise Pizza about 3 miles down the street. See my review. Both restaurants are easy to get to from Route 28, School St. or Lower County Rd. If you live here or have been visiting for several years, you know about them. For newer or first time visitors, try both restaurants. Experience their different styles of pizza and Italian foods plus other great menu items. Both great...
