Ronnie's Catering and BBQ — Restaurant in Denville

Wow oh WOW Ronnie's BBQ review here we go! I started planning (4 months ago around April) a Surprise 30th Birthday party for my fiancé that was this past Saturday 8/19. After looking up countless caterers trying to find the best "fit" for the party I was envisioning, I stumbled upon Ronnie's Catering & BBQ just from a simple Google search. Located right in Denville, not too far from where we live, I started first of course by browsing their reviews. What seems like one 5-star review after the next, it was clear that Ronnie's knew what they were doing when it came to feeding a party! I decided to reach out & I coordinated the entire thing with Danielle, who was efficient & an amazing communicator with quick response time. I spoke to the owner Mike a few times as well. They were both so great in answering all of my questions/concerns & super helpful with helping me plan this surprise party for 70 people. Their "Old Tyme Picnic" package was perfect for the event. All I have to say is, my guests could NOT stop coming up to me telling me how delicious this food was. From the BBQ chicken to the ribs to the grilled veggies, everyone could not stop raving about the food (which made me SO happy to hear!). Food is one of the most, if not THEE most important part of having a successful party full of happy guests, & Ronnie's made it happen. I cannot thank you guys enough for being so awesome along with the 2 cooks who came to set up & grill for us for the party. Everything went so beyond smoothly from start to finish. There was plenty of leftovers which we are still feasting on today! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I cannot wait to plan another future party & have Ronnie's come back to...

OUTSANDING!! From start to finish these guys made our experience so memorable- from the ease of deciding on packages as they made all their information available online and the straight-forwardness of contacting & booking really stood out. From setting everything up with Danielle and how accommodating she was to our servers at the event Jose and Arris, it goes without saying that their customer service is second to none!!

We booked the pig roast and they truly blew us away! Jose and Arris were incredibly kind and professional, set up such a huge spread and made everything so special for us. The pig was phenomenal and the amount of food they provided with the package from the additional meats to the sides was incredible! All our guests could not stop raving at how wonderful everything was. The little touches like providing plates and utensils to cooking additional burgers and dogs to leave with us as they were leaving to keeping everything so neat and clean just really meant so much to us! We got to enjoy our first big outdoor event in a long time to the fullest made possible by these guys as we did not have to lift a finger!

We cannot wait to have an excuse to have these guys back for our future events. If you are considering doing something along the lines DO NOT HESITATE!! You will have a very hard time finding someone else who not only does a better job but truly knows how to make an experience a step...

We had Ronnie’s cater my husband’s 60th surprise birthday party this past weekend.

Pros: Ronnie’s was very communicative and they came 2-3 hours in advance to set up and get ready for the event. The staff was nice and they complied with our request to move their truck down the street to keep the element of surprise for my husband’s birthday.

Cons: With the exception of the potato salad, the food was just disappointing. The chicken was good only after 10 of our guests complained to the “chefs” that the chicken was undercooked. The London broil was overcooked to the point of chewing leather. We would not even feed our dog the London broil because the meat was so tough and most of our guests threw it out. The ziti was bland and dry, the roasted vegetables were undercooked, the shrimp was over seasoned with pepper that I almost choked on a peppercorn.

This was just an utter disappointment after hearing all the great reviews and based on what other people in the community said. Some of my coworkers even recommended them. These so-called “chefs” looked like they were just out of high school who didn’t know how to cook, or just novice beginners at best. At $35 a plate per person, this was far below anyone’s expectations at this price point.
