Gelato Envy — Restaurant in Rockaway

Great rotating selection of flavors. They make certain flavors more consistently but still rotate those every couple days so there is usually something new to try. But they also prepare unique limited time flavors, even collaborative flavors with other local businesses. They have done an ale flavored gelato with Fort Nonsense Brewery, and guava plantain cheese gelato with Zoelily Empanadas. Flavors have never disappointed. We love their banana, dark chocolate, coconut, stracciatella, brownie batter, cherry almond, pear & goat cheese, and white mint chip gelatos. We especially love how you can taste and feel the texture of the real ingredients, like banana or pear or coconut. Plus they have a whipped cream machine that freshly whips cream to order to top your gelato if and when you so choose. Clean, colorful bright, easy in easy out location with comfy outdoor chairs on the grass median to relax and enjoy your gelato.

June 2021 update: well balanced cannoli gelato is hard to find but Envy hits it bullseye. The chocolate coated shell chunks, the finer bits blended throughout the gelato, and the sweet creamy cannoli filing are all in perfect harmony for a smooth flavor and traditional cannoli crunch.

The earl grey tea gelato was a welcome surprise and we hope you do add it to your regular rotation.

November 2021 update: yummy Bacardi Egg Nog Gelato. Dark Cherry Chip had a pleasant dark fruity sweetness balanced by the thin lacy chocolate chip swirls. Honeycrisp Sorbetto is beautifully full of fresh apple as always. In fact all the fall selections this season have been amazing: Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider Donut, Apple Pie, Maple and Bourbon Cinnamon. Nice improvement on the Lavender Honey, with a stronger flavor this time.

October 2023 update: Superb gelato and sorbetto as usual. Mixed berry sorbetto was chock full of fresh blended berries like blueberries and more. Chai Latte gelato had that delicious intense flavor. Pumpkin Amaretti Cookie gelato was full of pumpkin flavor and the traditional Italian cookie bits were still snappy. Got to love the rich Brownie...

Stopped by Gelato Envy last weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the visit. I've been disappointed with tasting other stores' "gelato", or what others claimed was gelato in the past; they tasted like regular ice cream. This is not the case here, Gelato Envy is the real deal!

We ended up meeting the owner and had a nice conversation with him, Mike is such a nice guy. He puts a lot of pride and dedication to his craft and you can definitely see and taste it here. Not only is his gelato authentic, its quite delicious as well.

My girlfriend got the banana gelato and I got the mango sorbetto. Both were so creamy and flavorful, nothing like any ice cream I've tasted before. In addition, he also let us taste the sweet milk flavor and his version of soft serve. They were also very good.

With such friendly service and a great product, you cannot go wrong here. I wish Mike all the best and much success for the future. I will be definitely coming back to enjoy more of the flavors and I recommend you stop in to...
