After a long day as a vendor at South Jersey Geek Fest, my hubby and I were too tired to cook. Pizza was the logical solution. We also didn’t want to drive far, but wanted really good pizza.
I have been wanting to try Nonnas Pizza Deptford since they opened. The other day I saw on Facebook that they added the Trio Pizza (pesto, vodka, and original sauces) to their menu. I love pesto on just about anything, so I suggested we try it.
Now, I have two kids and not too picky, but they are hesitant to trying anything too… “exotic?” (for the lack of a better term). So we ordered the Trio Pizza for all of us to try and the Upside Down Pizza with Pepperoni to be safe. Please note that the Trio Pizza is not yet on their online ordering. You can order it over the phone, or like us, we went in person to order. We also ordered both as rectangular pizzas.
It was quite busy with most patrons ordering pick up. The tables were set up nicely, and the TV had college football on. The staff was friendly and all smiles. It was somewhat hot inside, but I’m sure they weren’t expecting it to be 80 degrees on October 28th!
We brought the pizzas home and dug right in. The slices were huge! So plan on either cutting them in half or only eating two. Verdict? Although the Upside Down Pizza was delicious, we all loved the Trio the best.
Looking at their menu and their Facebook page, I really want to try their chicken cutlets next. There is one sandwich on focaccia bread that looks amazing!
Obviously, we are going back. We didn’t have to drive far and it was really good pizza. This is our new local pizza place. Go. Try....
Read moreSo, let me first say we had to visit this location twice. The first visit they were unfortunately out of a lot of food. We decided to give it another go since they were just opening and probably didn't expect the volume of orders they would get. Well, we ordered our food and told it would be about a half hour wait and we we eating there. Maybe 5 minutes later, to our surprise, someone brought all our food out and it was freaking amazing!!! I got a beef cheese steak, my wife got some kind of chicken cutlet sandwich and they cut up chicken cutlets to make chicken fingers for our one son who came with us. We got loaded fries and "just nuggets" which are basically tiny mozzarella sticks. Everything was so good. The staff were great, two of the girls working came out and talked with us as we were finishing up and were super friendly. We confirmed they didn't realize they would get the volume of orders and since have fixed the issue. We were told they have a location at the Union soccer stadium if I remember correctly and had the same problem. I'm a small business owner too so I understand the struggle of starting. If you had an issue when they were getting started, it unfortunately happens, maybe give them another shot. They are by far the best little pizza/sandwich shop in the area. I hope to see them grow and continue the quality of food we had last night. We will be going back with all 3 kids and they're right across the street from the best ice cream shop in the area for...
Read moreOrdered an Upside down Square pizza and paid online at 6:00pm, and it said order would be done at 6:30pm. Parking was horrible, and it took 10 minutes to get to cashier to give her my pickup number. Pizza was not done until 7:05pm, and while waiting orders placed after ours were filled before us. There were 2 Men making Pizza, 2 making sides/sandwiches, 1 placing completed orders on shelf, and 4 Ladies by the register. Even with 9 people working, they seemed very disorganized, and had customers waiting for orders that were completed. We would be ok with all of this if the pizza was as good as we'd heard. It was not cooked all of the way, did not have cheese on large areas of it, and left a strange aftertaste (maybe due to dough not being proven properly, and being undercooked). I understand being busy, but this was more than just an issue with being busy. People that ordered multiple items were having to wait 20 mins or more after their other food was cooked for their pizza to be done, or were waiting 15 to 20 mins for a second pizza to cook. The disorder that we witnessed, the extra 35 minute wait, the not fully cooked pizza, and the amount of times the man at the counter touched his face, and did not wash his hands are what led to the 2 Stars.
The best thing was that the man who was cutting and boxing the pizzas did apologize for the delay. He was far away from me, but I heard him apologize, and...
