Went to Habaneros on Forest by Drake Saturday night for dinner. We arrived to a packed house and had to wait about 5 minutes to get seated. Once we got seated, nobody came to our table for a while. There was a huge group of college students that had chosen that moment to leave, so they had the staff wrapped up dealing with their checks for some time, so when we realized that that is a specific circumstance that probably won't happen again when we come, we decided to give them a chance for a better impression once we ordered.
I'm glad we gave them a chance to start afresh, because once we got to order, they gave us GREAT service for the rest of our visit.
We ordered the Margarita flight (4 fairly large margaritas - lime, mango, peach and strawberry on the rocks) they also had a pina colada Margarita. They were good (except peach - just not my flavor) but a little sweet for me, but I recognize that's to some people's preference. The mango was my favorite.
I ordered a fajita burrito and my partner ordered the burrito with steak tips in it... (Can't recall the name) and we got cheese dip for the table. The salsa and cheese dip were good. The burritos were both huge and we both took home half for lunch the next day. My burrito was good but my partners was sooooo good that I will get that next time. :)
Once we got past the hiccups at the beginning everything ran smoothly. They had their servers all wearing masks and they have a patio when the weather warms up. I'm glad to have a Mexican restaurant a little closer to home and will...
Read moreThis place was on my list of places to try for a while. We had visited Denver a couple of weeks ago and had a great smothered burrito there. We were trying to find a place here that served something like that and this place was recommended to me. My husband got the burrito banderas which was topped with cheese dip and red and green sauces. I got the enchiladas verdes. Both dishes looked good and were presented well but the taste was pretty bland. The meat in both of our dishes didn't taste like it had much seasoning other than maybe salt and pepper. We were hoping for something that had more authentic flavor. The food did come out fast and was hot.
I was hoping for red sauce on my enchiladas but didn't see that on the menu. The green sauce didn't have much flavor. It was also very tight in the smaller room we were in. They shoehorned four tables in there and the server kept bumping into my back every time she was serving someone at one of the two other tables near ours.
I would say if you like real authentic Mexican flavors,...
Read moreBeing from TX, you start to rate Mexican food starting with chips and salsa... That's where I should have known it wasn't going to be stellar. The salsa to me was a Mexican version of a marinara. I had fajita's (beef, chicken, shrimp and chorizo). The shrimp was decent, the chicken and beef could use a bit more flavor but the chorizo was quite flavorful. The peppers and onions were good. They only have refried beans so keep this in mind. Our waitress was super nice and more than accommodating, let me put that out there!!! I ordered a Mimosa Mexicana... Which wasn't bad as it was something different. My Boyfriend ordered Carnitas entree and he is a carnitas connoisseur and he found that my chorizo was better, therefore ordering a side of chorizo. He had a house margarita and again is an aficionado for margs but it wasn't an order another...
