Greek Orthodox Church of St. George — Local services in Des Moines

I visited this church a couple of times when I was younger, but as an adult, I recently went and was able to grasp the magnitude, beauty, and significance this church holds. Everyone I spoke with was very welcoming, and kindhearted and had strong values in faith. The bottom portion of the church is where the kitchen and dining area are located. The dining area was very large and was a great spot to accommodate large gatherings for events and special occasions. The location is perfect, with beautiful homes surrounding the church, and their free parking lot wraps around the backside of the building. I would recommend anyone to visit...

The priest there is a kind and approachable man and deeply cares for his parish. The parish itself is very kind and God seeking. The church is beautiful with Eastern Orthodox decorative art, and has been the best display of true Christianity I have ever seen. Their liturgy, the divine liturgy, is beautifully executed every time, very lively. You will learn a lot about not just the faith but also about yourself here. They speak English primarily I say maybe 60/40...

The best church and the most beautiful servants, in the image and likeness of Christ. They are good, pious, and pure-hearted people. The priest, the pastor of the church, is one of the simplest people I have dealt with. May God bless his life, his ministry, his family, and his wife. She is a good and pious woman.
