Im a Iowan that no longer lives in midwest. I havent been to Mullets since 2018 and boy do I miss it! Ive only been for dinner so it was a nice change up to be able to come for brunch on a Sunday. I will say they get packed for brunch of course everyone wants to come here because its awesome. Its also good to mention trying to find parking spot is terrible. So maybe try to come earlier than noon not sure if that would matter but they also dont take reservstions. I do think they should expand for another parking lot and get something worked out for that. Mullets is popular in the summer because its near bike trails you have people stopping for brews and food. Their set up outside is super cute they have games you can play (if your lucky) while your waiting. They do have a booth where you can get drinks while your waiting to be called for your table. You can sit and chill in spots like benches, and patio chairs. Youll be catching up with friends so I promise its worth the wait! I ordered the pinapple ale and bloody mary flight and it was a really good choice. We shared the regular nachos which were not bad but they were just alright. Some of our cheese was burnt! I ordered the breakfast burito it was really good but couldnt finish it because it was so big so I had left overs for the nexy day. My friend court had the morning mullet and she really liked that. My friend callie had the Denver she also enjoyed that but it came with a lot of food and she couldnt finish it. I dont think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Im hungry for Mullets just by writing this review! Cant wait to go back and I should make it a tradition for when I visit.

I have waited a few weeks to write this review hoping I could think of something more positive to say, but I can't. I was so excited to try Mullets due to all I had read about it. Maybe my expectations were too high, because boy, was I disappointed! The best thing I can say about it was the restroom was clean (which earned the two stars)! The food and drink were mediocre at best. The worst part was the service. Our waitress was not friendly, and borderline rude. We went at 3 pm on a Saturday, (purposely as we knew they often are busy and there is a wait so thought this would be a good time) and they close at 4. I assume she was anxious to be done for the day, but still not ok to act like she did. (And before I go any further, I worked waiting tables, as a bus, and a dishwasher in restaurants from the time I was 14 until I was 20, so I know what it's like and how you should treat customers.) I have a physical disability so was hoping for a booth, but we soon as we entered we were motioned to a high table right near the door. I did not ask to move because I didn't dare--she honestly was in that bad of a mood. She did not smile or talk in a friendly manner to us at all, at any point in time. I had the Orange Fizz to drink and was told as she set it on our table that just so I knew, they were now out of Tangueray Sevilla Orange so I couldn't order any more. I was pretty sure she meant there wasn't any in the one I was served--the drink tasted like watered-down Tang. I ordered the Morning Mullet to eat. Nothing special or great about it for the $10.25 price tag. The gravy was so thin and tasteless that I didn't even take home what I couldn't eat, (and I don't EVER leave food behind at a restaurant!). Another just FYI, I left a beyond generous tip, just hoping it was a bad day there. I'm glad others love it so much and have had great experiences at Mullets, because I did not and will not be going back. I am thinking this is the first negative review I have ever left on Google and I sincerely hope it's the last. :(

8:45 on a Wednesday morning on a whim. Located near downtown DesMoines with great views of the city. No wait- seated immediately. Brought a menu and silverware. Looked for a few minutes then was asked to move as a big table needed to use my table for overflow. Bummed cause I had such a nice view, and the 3 top table I was moved to was literally an inch from the bathroom directly under a TV so I could face the wall, sit in the bathroom path, or sit with my back to the windows. Asked server which was best out of a few things that looked good- she said the morning mullet. Hashbrowns with biscuit and gravy, egg on top. It was okay. For that many different things, it didn't have much flavor. Weird, I know. Just sort of bland. Of course it was fine! And a big portion, and came out quick. My bill was $11 before tip. For the portion size, that seemed fair. I wish they would do something more welcoming with the main entrance. It's always covered with debris from the night before, super unattractive. Also confusing if you haven't been there a dozen times like I have. Menu selection is extensive, so next time I will try something else. Another Wednesday visit much better! Had the country eggs benedict and it was excellent. Huge portion. Entrance clean so I noticed the mullet photos for the 1st time. Fun!!! Quick service and capable server.

Wife and I have been back a few times and remembered to take photos this time. As per usual terrific service, amazing food and a fun atmosphere. What was different this time is that we discovered that we can reserve a table on line! So before we left home we reserved a table and it said 16 minutes. By the time we drove there from home we were almost ready to have a seat for breakfast. So worth it! Mullets is a popular and busy restaurant, being able to reserve, drive there, order drinks at the bar it was time to sit down. I was chastised for being a lifelong Southsider and never been to Mullets before today. After attending an event at the state capitol this morning the group I was with decided to go to Mullets for breakfast, I had no idea that Mullets did breakfast and I was happily surprised. In these days of covid concern I needed to visit their website or scan a QR code to see the menu. As you can see in the photo, I ordered their new breakfast brisket burrito with side sauce. I have to compliment them for having a meat heavy burrito that was tasty and filling. My experience is that most places are heavy on potatoes with meat being a distant second ingredient. Not here! I only ate half and brought the rest home for my wife to finish. I will be taking my wife to Mullets for breakfast again soon.

Took the family for breakfast this morning and found ourselves at Mullets. The atmosphere was that of a typical bar/restaurant layout just a little cramped. We got a table right away but almost immediately after we were seated a line formed. The wait staff was very busy but friendly. There were a couple things missed like no silverware or jelly for our toast but for the most part had a very pleasant experience. The food was a mix of reviews. I got the morning mullet, which was 2 eggs over half order of biscuits and gravy on top of hash browns...in a word, perfection!!! My wife got 2 eggs any style with chocolate chip pancakes it came with bacon, toast, and hash browns. The toast was not buttered and was very dry and not many chocolate chips in the pancakes. My daughter got the eggs benedict which came with hash browns. The only thing off with this dish was the Hollandaise sauce. It had a tangy flavor that she didn't enjoy. Overall it was a good experience and we will be back to try lunch or dinner.

This was my first time visiting mullets after living in the dsm metro for over 13 years. Mullets is your typical bar styled food so they will have the usual burgers and fries which I judge bars from. You can’t mess up burgers and fries so if I do get a horrible burger that speak volumes for the rest of the menu. Now my wife ordered a brisket nacho appetizer we received and it was huge, tasted great but lacked in much brisket. If I have to ratio it out it would 90% chips 5 lettuce salsa and cheese and 5% brisket. Since it did lack brisket it made up for it in taste. Now, like I said I ordered a burger and fries, fries were excellent you would not believe how many places serves bad fries and Mullets is not one of them. Tuesday burger was very good but I’m not sure if the patties are hand made or bought in bulk because the patty tasted exactly like the patty from my sisters place which I reviewed some time ago. But nevertheless the food was good. I will make a return trip to try there other dishes
