300 Craft & Rooftop — Restaurant in Des Moines

By far the rudest waitress ever. We walked in to have no greeting, sat outside on the bar for an afternoon drink, and we had come here because the first place we tried ended up being a bust. We figure we’d give this place a go. 10 minutes goes by and nobody comes to greet us, so I go and ask for a menu. I was plainly told “we don’t do that here”, and then I just asked for a soda instead. The machine ended up being flat and at this point it had taken another 15 minutes, and the staff was doing a great job at making us feel like we were a bother for bringing their establishment business.. We just said honestly don’t worry it’s fine; and we were making our way out the door. As my girlfriend and I were having conversation about how it was unfortunate we went 2/2 on striking out at bars, not even upset really but did notice the service wasn’t great, and in conversation my girlfriend was just simply shaking her head while she was talking. As we were walking away the woman barter yells to us “you’ll be alright lady keep crying”… and I just turned around and looked at the lady like she was crazy and said “you don’t even know what we were talking about…that’s really weird behavior miss” and we left. Honestly a really weird and unpleasant experience. I would avoid this place...

James (the red headed bartender with tattoos, and all of the terrible reviews here and also the owner) is the rudest person I have ever encountered. He clearly has some problems that make him super angry for literally zero reasons. He got my order wrong when I ordered super politely, so when I corrected him nicely just asking for the right beer, he took the wrong beer he poured and chucked it across the bar. It was extremely uncalled for. And I STILL TIPPED and was overcharged; he charged me 72 dollars for 3 beers. Later on he was pointing at my sober friend who was there for the encounter and she asked what the issue was. He told us “go back to tipsy crow where you belong” and made the bar backs come over to kick us out. He is an actual psycho. Not sure much will be done being he is the owner of this bar and also owns Coa Cantina and Bellhop, but just wanted to mention he clearly has a serious problem causing some unwarranted anger and might need some anger management classes. My burger was cooked correctly, and it came out as I asked (condiments on the side)

It was an edible meal... those are the nice things I can say.

Was it worth the price? No not at all. Also my friends burger was wrong, and went he sent it back they clearly just sauced it and gave him the same cold burger.

Sadly I could live with the over pricing and mistake, that happens... but the portentous staff was rude & the service was non-existant.

It took them over 5 minutes to deliver a can of redbull when the restaurant was empty. We could see the staff just sitting there ignoring our order while we waited. It was very discouraging.

And as if this wasn't pathetic enough you have to pay for parking.

If you want to waste money, get treated badly and eat mediocre food I highly recommend this place. But if you want to enjoy yourself at all I cannot recommend this place in good conscience.
