The Cactus — Restaurant in Detroit Lakes

This was the venue used for our little sisters pre wedding fun and wedding reception this past weekend. The atmosphere was great, the food was pretty good, but we're only giving it three stars because the bartender and our party servers on the night of the grooms dinner were meh (seemed super annoyed with having to take care of so many of us). There was major miscommunication about what our party package came with, and the drink special of 2 beers for the price of one was never told to us by the bartender or servers. My husband found out about it from his oldest sister and when he went to grab his last two for one deal before the deal ended was almost blocked by the bartender in the bowling area. Luckily the manager made his bartender hook up my husband since he asked before 6pm.

Update per the owners comments: We appreciate the apology and that you're defending your staff. The reason I stated that your staff seemed meh was because they seemed irritated when serving us. There's a huge difference between being distracted by the newness of the remodeled area and being annoyed, their expression and attitudes were very telling of how they felt. As for the drink situation, we sent my husband to go get his drinks a few minutes before the deal was up (5:56pm), his request might have been seconds before 6, but the response to get the beverages from you all was after 6, so that would make sense as to why you would say he was trying to get the deal before it ended. We don't get to go to Perham that often. We stopped in after Perham days last year (2013) on the way home. It wasn't busy at all, about 4:00 on a Monday. We actually thought they were closed, however we stopped in anyway and they were open. The inside is really cool with lots of lacquered logs plus it was literally cool, because I remember it being hot outside. I remember being here once for a wedding when I was a kid and bowling a couple of games. The bar area is really nice. The food is a little on the spendy side but it is well worth it. They have these awesome walleye fingers, they were so good and the fries are probably the second best I've ever had. The inside will surprise you compared to what you see on the outside. The inside atmosphere/ decor is really nice and rustic feeling. Service was smaller but very nice both nights we went. The first night we went, I got the special they were promoting. When it came, it looked nice but very different from the picture. Unfortunately, it lacked flavor and any type of wow factor. We went back the next night because reviewing the menu, they had plenty I wanted to try. We also know service can be different from night to night. Everything was similar the second night.
