This is a review I had given back in 2013: I spent a couple hours here hitting a few bars in Corktown. I was pretty impressed having never been there before. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you walk inside it has that 'nostalgia' look like a diner from the 50's. My ratings are pretty much always based on the 'atmoshere' of the place. I didn't get to see the outside patio though, which I'm bummed about. So, I can't comment on the burgers since I only ate an appetizer - poutine to be exact. But I can definitely say that it was delicious and flavorful and I'm hoping to hit this place again so I can try a burger. Beer selection is pretty good too. The particular bartender we had was pretty awesome. She was very nice and did everything a bartender should do, but also spent a good amount of time bs'ing with us & giving us tips on where to go that night. Places I would not have normally gone, but ended up having an excellent night altogher, and part of that was because of her recommendations. And here's my updated review from last week: Since my initial review I've been here probably a dozen times and have brought plenty of new people here to try it. Having always ate the poutine here, I never ventured to try their burger. Well, over the holidays I finally did! It was a burger called The Local. A burger with pulled pork on top and BBQ sauce mingled in. Yes, it was delicious! Of course, I did have a side of poutine because I can't go there without having some. I've had poutine so many places, but MBB I believe is the best. Let's be clear. Poutine is a pretty basic meal. Fries doused in gravy with cheese curds throughout. There are other places that throw in other foods (pulled pork or duck for example) and some of those are really good too. However, for poutine stripped to what it's supposed to be, MBB is my favorite.

Worst experience I’ve ever had a a restaurant and I will not be back. I will inform everyone I know to never patronize this bar because they lack professionalism, hospitality and customer service skills. I wish I could rate it 0 stars don’t go there!! The management team, Mike and Dua, we’re combative, hostile, and ultimately called me a liar because I was not satisfied with ONE item that I received. I would never recommend this place to anyone looking to have a decent meal. I have to wonder would I have had the same experience if I was a Caucasian customer. I’ve never had an experience like this at any other restaurant had an issue with the ratio of ice cream to whipped cream in my vanilla shake. I attempted to explain that there was way too much whipped topping on my milkshake than what I expected and it was literally half cup and that cause me to not enjoy the milkshake. I asked if I could have one without whipped cream and I was told no. Management because argumentative and stomped off in a hissy fit (Dua) without showing me any customer service. Then the GM (Mike) came over to my table and called me a liar about the amount that was in my cup as if I brought whipped cream in my purse and panted inside the cup. They tried to Insinuate that I didn’t know the difference between whipped cream and vanilla ice cream in a shake cup and questioned my ability to pay for the shake as if I was trying to steal a shake from them. They tried to intimidate me by surrounding the table and threatening me..RACIST!! I am a pregnant woman and I was highly offended and simply wanted to enjoy my meal. They expressed that they don’t make mistakes and there was no way they’d take it back or remake it. Management team was very sarcastic and argumentative.

Was in town looking for poutine and this place came up. Looks good. Apparently there was also a music festival going on as well nearby which made parking a little hard without spending special engagement fees but found a spot and went in. When we arrived we were greeted and seated rather quickly. That’s about where the service dropped. Lots of employees, but it appears they have more bussers than servers because after we placed drinks and food we had to wait 30+ mins for burgers, hot dogs and poutine. The waitress did come by every now and then and check on drinks and the whole group appeared to be on top of drinks for everyone else. But food was slow. Perhaps waiting on whole tables until being delivered but food appeared to sit for some time before being actually delivered by the waiters instead of bussers helping. Finally our food arrived and was great. Poutine was what we expected. Burgers were cooked to temps we asked. The hot dogs were delicious. We then got a lovely Hell’s Kitchen type show. Clearly the kitchen was behind, stressed. Things boiled over. It appeared one of the cooks was working hard to get things out but hit a boiling point. Management should’ve handled this better instead of arguing with staff in front of the customers. Several tables walked out after that incident and we were finished, paid and left. A lot of locals apparently go here. The food was good. Service needs to be worked on.

🎯Google Guide Review✨: I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant’s food. I dined in at the bar and ordered the salmon burger (not a burger), poutine and the Funky Shake. The salmon had no seasoning, was dry, and was the size of half the bun. There was hardly any lettuce or onion on it either. No cheese and have a teaspoon of some sauce that looked like Thousand island. I ended up leaving half the “burger” on the plate. Never getting this again. 0/10 stars The poutine tots were very salty and definitely not like what’s in Canada. The 1-2 tots without gravy and just onion and cheese were good but I will never get that again. 2/10 stars The Funky Shake was a boozy Chocolate and Banana shake with a shot of alcohol and chocolate drizzle on the inside of a glass cup. This was the best and very delicious. I could taste the balance of flavors for sure. 10/10 stars

I recently visited Mercury Burger Bar and had a delightful experience. The crispy tots were an absolute standout—perfectly fried and incredibly satisfying. The speed of service was impressive, with our meals arriving promptly despite the bustling atmosphere. Plus, the prices were great, offering excellent value for the quality and quantity of food. One of the best aspects of Mercury Burger Bar is its prime location. It's conveniently close to the beautifully renovated Michigan Train Station, making it a perfect spot to grab a bite before exploring the area. Additionally, the free street parking was a huge bonus, adding to the overall convenience and appeal of dining here. If you're looking for a quick, delicious meal at a great price in a fantastic location, Mercury Burger Bar is a top choice.

When you say "Can I get this burger with this instead of that?" And they say YES, NO PROBLEM you are not expecting a bill 50℅ higher than advertised. It wasn't so much that I ended up paying several dollars more, it was the point that had they told me how much more my request would cost, I simply would have ordered something else. I even politely explained the situation to the server and she did go talk to the manager and came back that there was nothing else that they could do. I even told them I would be writing a poor review about this situation and they did not care the least. The burger was 3 star at best. The value/cost of the meal was 1 to 2 stars and the blasé attitude and customer experience was a big fat zero. I am never coming back.
