Mike's Famous Ham Place — Restaurant in Detroit

Note from October 2022 visit. If the sign says Famous it's gotta be great. This place slaps old school cool straight outta 1970 vibe. Ma n Pa run a clean small menu Ham place, Yes it's Famous. Just look at the beautiful Ham photo on the pedestal ready for slicing. Only a handful of Detroit Ham Kings remain where they roast 30 pound Dearborn Brand Ham's daily, sliced right off the bone for me Ham on Onion Roll rules, ,, yes filled the belly with Love my usual order. Today we had a bowl and Pea n Ham Soup spot on delicious. A pair of Sunnyside Egg's, Toast n Ham. Just minutes to Downtown Detroit on Michigan Ave you will be in HAM heaven. Detroit also has Ham Palace , Liles and A&L Ham Palace with same outstanding Delicious Ham. Sometimes simple can be better. And Mike's Famous Ham House proves the point. There are only four items on the menu and all are excellent. It is the best place in the Detroit area for a ham sandwich. The ham is very juicy and flavorful, the sandwich is thick and served on a soft roll with or without a slice of cheese. The soups are made in house using meat pieces and bones from their hams. It is always a difficult decision whether tho have the bean or pea soup with the sandwich as both soups are excellent. For someone who wants the best ham sandwich in the southeastern Michigan area without or without a bowl of soup, I most highly recommend Mike’s...

My Husband and I were just there a week or two ago, have been there before. We each had a Ham Sandwich and he got a cup of the pea soup and I got a cup of the bean soup. First time I had tried the bean soup. It was delicious as of course the sandwiches were.Only hate half of the ham sandwich and saved the other half for later. Just as delicious. While waitng for our outgoing order (it was not a long wait either), the gentlemen carving the ham for our order sliced of a nice piece of ham and just handed it over to me to sample.
