Before dining in, I asked the wonderful hostess (very nice & professional young woman) their gratuity policy and she informed me that there was no mandatory gratuity for parties of 5 or less. I had a party of 4. (My receipt says 6 for some reason which is a complete lie !) Nevertheless, when the initial $240 bill came, I was only then informed that my party was not allowed to separate the checks and that despite what I was told, this $42 service charge was going to be on my bill and the manager literally argued back and forth with me insisting that the gratuity was non-negotiable and that these service charges are the only way he can keep his employees paid and restaurant open, I then explained to him that I ALSO work a 9-5 and I specifically asked about gratuity prior to dining in. After arguing with him for several minutes I decided to just let him know that I would be paying the bill WITHOUT the "suggested mandatory non-negotiable service charges". He proceeded to "inform" me that they would be taking license plate numbers if we refused to pay. Ironically, after paying the amount that I felt was fair...the charge was dropped from my bill AND I was given change. I find it extremely frustrating and unprofessional that I had to argue with management about something he claimed was "impossible" and non-negotiable. Of course, I tipped my server because he was a good server. However, I did not appreciate the "professionalism" of the management and it was a very poor reflection of this establishment.

This spot is a true Detroit classic, known for its prime location and stunning views of the Detroit River. Valet parking is a great option, but there’s also $3 self-parking if you prefer. I’ve been here a few times for dates and family events, and the vibe is always on point—chic with a touch of old-school charm. The seafood platter was fresh, lightly breaded, and well-seasoned, but the rest of the menu could use some work. The sides, in particular, were a letdown—my green beans were barely cooked, and the baked potato was just okay. I’d love to see a wider variety of platters and more thoughtfully prepared sides. For the price, I also wish the portions were more generous. On a brighter note, the drinks were a highlight! I had a Lemon Drop and a Bourbon Sour, and both were delicious and fairly priced. As for the service, the staff seemed a bit stressed, but to be fair, it was a busy night. Overall, while there’s room for improvement, it’s still a classic spot worth visiting.

So to start I’ve been accused of being a fish snob and I accept that title. I know what good fresh fish looks like and tastes like and i’m willing to travel to get it or catch and cook it. We were here to fish for Walleye another highly recommended trip. We meet at this restaurant and it’s full of fishermen not really a fancy anniversary with the wife destination. However the fish was fresh and tasty and if i was close to this place I would stop every time.

Sinbads is one of the few places in Detroit where you can enjoy a meal on the Detroit River. It is just a little east if downtown off Jefferson right on the marina. The food is very standard fare with a menu that seems to take you right back to a 197ps old school Michigan family style fi e dining establishment. Plenty of fish and meat choices. One extra is that if you want to bring your own fish caught on the river, they have a cleaning station on the dock, and they'll prepare your fish one of a few ways and serve it to you with sides. Making for a very special experience.
