I have loved Starters food for so long!!! It’s actually one of my favorite restaurants, the Plymouth location is the absolute BEST!!! I use to be a frequent visitor especially during happy hour throughout the week however, it seems management must clearly have a thing for bartenders and waitresses with some of the WORST ATTITUDES & CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced yet! Don’t get me wrong, I have come across a very small few who was excellent and very professional. But for the most part, I’ve had more bad experiences! It’s like they go out of their way to be rude and unprofessional! I don’t know if it’s an issue with homophobia or what but I’m always coming in with a positive mood and attitude along with fun people looking for good vibes and a good time nonetheless, these servers just don’t have it in them to be professional and offer the service that should be required of them. I have attempted to speak with management on site at the time and even attempted to contact owners for years after each experience and never heard anything back. Last week, after not visiting for an entire year, once again I had to encounter yet another rude stank attitude having bartender. She was fun and polite to the men sitting next to us but when me and my cousin walked up, her demeanor changed for the worst! She was even being rude and nasty to her co worker, the other bartender (who was much more polite and professional) she literally cut her off while she was engaged in conversation with us! She went out of her way to be ignorant and rude to us and for what? We are paying customers just like everyone else! So this is why I felt the need to post this review! Maybe management will see and make some changes because I sure hope nobody else has to continually deal with this kind of treatment when we’re spending our hard earned money in this...

I was there when Starters meant something. A literal hole-in-the-wall: one cook, a few stools, a diner top, and phenomenal food. What you’ve become – "Starters Bar and Grill" – is a joke. A shell of its soul, trading integrity for club vibes and trash food.
My recent visit confirmed the death spiral: "Steak" = Rubber Mat: Salty, thin, and a texture like boiled shoe leather. The single worst steak I’ve ever been served. Disgusting. "Salad" = Swamp Lettuce: A pool of stagnant water drowning the greens. Unforgivable laziness. Rib Tips = Flavor Desert: Boiled into oblivion, zero seasoning, zero effort. Just dumped in sauce like prison slop. Pathetic. Bread = Afterthought: Arrived after we’d nearly finished. The basics? You forgot them. The Insult: Slapping an $19 AUTOMATIC GRATUITY on this abomination. Charging me extra for the privilege of being insulted.
This isn’t a dip in quality – it’s a nosedive into culinary bankruptcy. Every new "location" you open dilutes the brand further. You’ve abandoned the cook, the counter, and the craft that made you worth a damn. Now? It’s just cheap meat, zero skill, and arrogance.
Your vendor is peddling garbage. Your kitchen has forgotten how to cook. Your management thinks atmosphere excuses incompetence. WAKE UP.
Final Verdict: Food: Trash. Value: Theft. Experience: Humiliating. Future: None of my money. Ever. I’ll actively steer people away until you tear down the "club" facade and **relearn how to...
Read moreI used to LOOOOVE Starter's, especially the Plymouth location since it is the original location and has the best drinks. However, I'm starting to hate it. The food is almost never good, certainly not how it was in the past. The waitstaff is rude 80% of the time (they really do have good waitresses and bartenders - only a couple though), but that's not even the reason behind my review.
The issue is: My 8 friends and I came in to eat one night and were told we'd have to pay a $150 deposit before we were seated. Imagine our surprise having to pay before we eat at a neighborhood bar! Obviously thinking it was a joke, I started laughing and the Hostess asked if we wanted to see the manager. Yes.
So Monique, the manager, comes over already looking like she has an attitude and simply states "That's our policy!". Pissed me off. She left and a waitress came to further explain. The waitress basically said that they have been having a lot of people run out on their bills lately so to combat this, they require parties to pay a deposit.
One of the girls in our party paid the deposit, which would be refunded after we all paid our bills, but when she asked for a receipt Monique looked her up and down and told her the money would be in an envelope at the front and she wasn't going anywhere. Super unprofessional.
So we sit and eat. My food was horrible, a portion had to be sent back and recooked. Our waitress was cool and nice so no complaints there. It would have been nice to have Monique, the manager, come check up on us during our meal since she was so quick to collect our deposit. She took her sweet time bringing the money back as well, making sure not to walk up to...
