We’ve Been Coming To Xochimilco’s Sims’s I was a kid , I’m Now in my 20’s . Never really had any issues with the service until 2024. My mother just had a birthday celebrated there this past Friday (Black Friday). In total there were 12 of us , 8 of which arrived early , me , My lady , My aunt & My uncle were the last 4 to arrive. Once we arrived, the first 8 of us were all already seated together. There had been a table for 4 available right along side our group of 8 so in our minds it only made sense to suggest the table . But we were met with resistance. The owner/manager of the establishment, insisted on moving us in a total different part of the restaurant far away from our group . We asked the owner if that table had been already reserved for Other customers and surprisingly, he replied with a simple “no” . Which made us even more curious as to why we weren’t allowed to sit there . He continued to INSIST That we sit elsewhere in the establishment but we didn’t come to be separated because again , this was a family gathering . We drove 40 minutes on icy roads to get here & have a good time with family we haven’t seen in years . Being at separate tables in separate ROOMS wasn’t acceptable. The owner was very stern and rude about telling us where to sit and he would not accommodate us on something so small . This resulted in my aunt and uncle Deciding to Leave Because of the Poor service they received and I don’t at all blame them . Accommodations were small . The table was clean and clear . It made 0 sense to tell us a clean table of 4 with no current customers occupying it , ISNT AVAILABLE to 4 customers who have just arrived . My aunt and uncle will most likely never spend money with them now due to this level of Poor Customer service . We did not feel welcome . And at the last minute after maybe 5-6 minutes of back and forth as to why we couldn’t sit in the most obvious spot, he then Reluctantly , decided to allow us to sit there but by then the damage had already been done . I came to leave my review on it to spread awareness . This was completely unacceptable behavior. I can’t help but give them 1 star and if I could give them 0 stars , I would . The atmosphere was 0 stars . The food was a cool 3 stars . The...

Xochimilco is one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in the area. Since my very first visit over 12 years ago, things have certainly changed.

The vibe of the restaurant is moody and dim, but not in a good way. I like the architecture of the building and have always liked the interior, but I think the dim lighting takes away from that, especially on the main floor. On a bright, beautiful day, patrons would be turned off by this. I'd love to see a revamp that allows more natural light in the main dining area or brighter ceiling lamps.

Along the walls, you'll see all the awards they've obtained. I wish the awards proved themselves still relevant.

The service is decent but inconsistent. There was disorganization the last time I went, but hopefully it's not a reflection of regular practices. When it comes to the food, I've had a few dishes here: the super nachos, tacos, chimichanga, and some sides. When I first came here, everything had a rich flavor, and the quality was excellent. Upon my recent visit, I was not impressed. The complimentary chips were quick and hot, but bland (salt was noticeably absent). We had to ask for the salsa after none was brought after 15 minutes. The salsa was fine, but not anything special. My nachos were okay, but again, they lacked real flavor. The cheese was melted, but not in an appealing way. I had to tear the cheese apart with my hands in order to get a decent amount onto one chip. I could pick the cheese up in one piece if I wanted to. They likely sat for a while in the window, and/or the cheese is poor quality. The beef was good and seasoned enough, and I liked the jalapeños. The medium super nacho's were priced at about $16, and I think that's bit much for the quality.

The drinks are the shining star here, but they used to be better. I usually opt for a frozen banana margarita, and it was yummy! However, I couldn't taste the alcohol. I had two and barely felt a thing.

I wish I had a better review to give. This place is special to the city, and I hope that their glory days are not behind them. I hope to have a better...

So yesterday was my birthday. This used to be my favorite restaurant after my family's experience yesterday I don't think it is anymore. We drove about 20 minutes to go there which isn't a problem. Then we had to wait 30 minutes to get sat at a table which wasn't a problem. So while everyone else is looking at their menus and deciding what they want we're eating our chips and salsa. I didn't need to look at my menu because I always get the same thing. Mind you I've been going here for at least 12 years plus. My mother went to order drink that she's been ordering there for years also he waiter said very rudely we don't make that. She politely said that she had been getting it for years he said I can put it in but I highly doubt he's going to make it which was extremely rude. Then he gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. When he came back to take her orders everyone went when it came to me I ordered chicken fajitas which that's what I always get. He said we don't have that. I was like what do you mean you don't have that you that's what I always get. Well we don't have that and I was like ok. I was like well that's exact reason why we came here for my birthday. So then he was rude and so I had to look for something else so I decided on steak fajitas. He comes back and like we don't have steak either. So then I couldn't get what I wanted and my mother couldn't get what she wanted cuz she ordered something with steak. We told him that we just wanted to pay for a drink then. He brought back the bill and then proceeded to take away the chips and salsa which was extremely rude. My husband said that we could pay for that. The waiter was so rude took it threw it in the trash. For all the inconvenience they could have at least just gave us that. They never a sorry or anything. I think It's extremely unprofessional to not let people know that you're out of more than half of your menu and have them wait for 40 minutes without an apology...

I have been coming here for 35 yrs. it’s was one of my favorite locations in Mexican Village. I don’t know if the young lady that took my order was new or what but I had to repeat the order a few times. This took place 15 minutes over the phone before the restaurant opened on a Tuesday (today). My order, the Chimichangas I asked for everything to be put on the side and NO tomatoes. Cheese on top was fine. *Also I asked for medium salsa for both meals.* Go inside, check the order and LOOK at my meal. LOOK at ALL of the tomatoes on my chimichangas. Since I’m not allergic I just “accepted” it because I was ready to go. I did show the manager standing there. I arrived home an hour later to Plymouth to find out our salsa is HOT! Really? 😡 I called the restaurant, spoke back to the male manager and complained. He said “ALL carry outs come with HOT salsa.” I told him I asked for medium AND if I spend $30 for dinners I have to pay for 2 small salsas? Yes… The price for salsa wasn’t a problem BUT really? I told him I have never had a complaint BUT I am very DISAPPOINTED. There are SO many other restaurants AND FOOD TRUCKS in that area. I guess today will be my last time going to Xochimilco. I can walk to many other restaurants in that area. Just TERRIBLE! 😤 P. S. I also asked the girl on the phone was there a lunch special she said no. When I went inside I found out there is a lunch special for dine in. We were not offered that. My Mom & I could have sat inside, had drinks and a server could have made some money as well. Poor communication! Someone needs to be trained.
