I never give a business a negative review because being a business person, I understand how hard it can be and how rude customers can be, but I’m going to make an exception today. My wife and I had been wanting to try out this Food Hall since we seen it on Instagram. My wife is a seafood person, so I decided to surprise her by ordering a Salmon and Shrimp Habbachi at Poons. I order two Salmon and Shrimp Habbachi dinners ($31.99) each. I ordered extra sauces and left a tip. I waited 30 minutes for my food (not complaining about the wait, I get it). When I got my food, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn’t even check the bag before I left (that was my mistake). I got back to my wife to surprise her and there was absolutely no Shrimp in either plate. Typically when you go to a Habbachi restaurant the Salmon is sautéed in chunks and mixed into the rice, this was not the case at this Habbachi. This was disappointing because Habbachi restaurants don’t use the good center cuts of Salmon because it’s going to be chopped up anyway. Well, they left the undesirable cut of Salmon whole and overcooked on both plates. My wife looked at her price of Salmon and said there was a piece of hair in hers. I said Ok, I need to drive back over there and get a refund. We took no bites, put both containers back in the bag and I went back . When I arrived, I put the bag on the counter and told them that both plates are missing shrimp, the Salmon is overcooked and there is a hair in one of the pieces of Salmon, and I told them that I wanted a refund. The guy cooking told me that it is not hair, but it is fibers from the garlic butter. I hear you, but you name one person that’s going to feel comfortable getting back the same piece of Salmon because the cook said it’s fibers from garlic and butter? He admitted that missing the shrimp on both plates was his fault, but they told me no refunds, but he’s got shrimp ready now. By this time the rest of my food is cold, and I don’t have time to wait for another plate as I have a small child that has to be picked up from school asap., and I definitely didn’t want some new shrimp thrown on top of my cold rice and cold overcooked Salmon. At this point, they should have just counted it as a irreversible mess up, and refund me, but they refused. I didn’t want the food in the current state that it was in, and because I had to go pick up my child, I had no choice but to leave both plates behind, and I am now out of $72. (Oh and I was preached to about how I wouldn’t have complained about the skimpy food if I was at Benihana.). I am always saying that myself when customers give black businesses a herd time, so I was highly offended by that. I don’t do that. This time they were legitimately wrong! So here is...
Read moreI was a little hesitant after reading the Google and FB reviews, but overall, it was very good. I got the full size Chicken Hibachi with veggie fried rice and a side of yum yum sauce and garlic butter. I do think you should be able to choose the garlic butter as a complementary sauce instead of paying extra for it because w/o it doesn’t really taste like your typical hibachi style meal. The yum yum sauce is good, I wouldn’t recommend pouring it over your food though because it is very sweet, but as a dipping sauce it’s good. The regular size portions are small so most definitely get the full size. The chicken is good once it has sauce Or the butter on it. W/o it’s kind of lacking. I was disappointed they didn’t have and type of spring rolls available, but like I said overall, it was very good. I will be back to try the steak as well. The customer service isn’t the best, but maybe the young lady wasn’t having the best day. I visited the Fenkell and Hubbell location. I would give 5 stars if the customer service was a little better. 2/28 update I went back to try the Steak and Chicken combo. The amount you get for paying $32 is almost laughable. You pay almost $20 more just to add the steak and it’s not really worth it. The food is good, but if you’re going to come in, I would stick to the chicken dishes to get your money’s worth. Again no spring rolls, and the customer service leaves very little to be desired. I hope they look over the reviews. There isn’t much that’s a problem, like I said the food is very good besides a few things that lack. I think once it’s been open longer all the kinks will be worked out. Update2020*I have eaten here several times since my first visits. I still love the food. I hate that there are never any spring rolls, but the food is fire every single time. The baby I was pregnant with the first two time loves the rice too. Lol the Asian henny sauce and teriyaki is...
Read moreI just want to say that the service here is horrible! I just left this establishment after waiting for nearly two hours for my food. I love to support black business , but i will not be back here base off my experience today. The first time i came the food was food. I was very excited about coming here for a second time so I tried to call my order in but couldn’t get through the line. So I decided to go to Benihanas but when we got there it was a wait so I came here which i originally wanted to. At 4:49pm I got through and place my order, I receive a call back 15 minutes later saying they didn’t have lobster. So when i got there i just place my order inside around 5:15, my bill was over $70 and they told me it would be about 30min. After going in to see if my order was ready, they messed up on one lady food and it was a guy waiting for his food who place his order before us. We finally got our food at 6:20p and our order was not correct. We didn’t leave out this establishment until about 6:30. That was very unacceptable! And we only received a...
