I was so excited to finally try Juan's Tacos after living in Hondo for four years and hearing so many good things. I came in with high expectations, especially for the fajita gorditas. ★ (+1 Star) - The fajita meat was absolutely delicious. It tasted smoked and had a fantastic flavor and texture. A definite 10/10 for the meat quality. ☆ (-1 Star) - The $7 price for a single, tiny gordita was absolutely ridiculous. For that price, I expected a lot more than a small portion of meat. ☆ (-1 Star) - The gorditas themselves were a letdown. They were thin and hollow, and while not greasy, they lacked salt and flavor. The gordita part gets a 3/10. ☆ (-1 Star) - My fajita gordita came with no onion or bell peppers with the meat, and no toppings like lettuce, tomato, sour cream, or cheese. The salsa was also a disappointment, tasting just okay. I'd give it a 2/10. ★ (+1 Star) - The drive-thru was fast, but the friendliness of the staff was lacking. Overall, I was disappointed by the value and missing components. I won't be returning or recommending this place. If you want a great torta and delicious salsa, I highly recommend Yancy's Gas Station—their tortas are huge, tasty, and a...
Read moreThis was my first time here, Juans Tacos came highly recommended by 2 total strangers and I will say that the Gorditas were delicious, however, I wished I was told, when I asked for chicken fajita, that the meat wasn’t chicken fajita… and more so seemed like boiled chicken with bell peppers.. it was tender, but definitely not the flavor I expected in a Gordita. I also had a watermelon agua Fresca and it was fresh and flavorful. I also ordered a cup of corn, and was asked if I wanted everything. I did, and while the corn was delicious, it was also a bit too lemon flavored. I know now, to ask for less lemon, and next time, I’ll try beef fajita instead of the chicken. The service was great and the people were...
Read moreIf I could give a 1/2 star I would. We've been buying gorditas from Juan's since 2005. Quality matters.... but no longer the case here at Juan's.
The meat has no flavor. It tasted like stewed meat. No smokey flavor. The price has increased which is fine, but the quality of the gorditas has gone down. So the price increase is not justified for the quality of the gorditas. Today we purchased 10 gorditas for $60 total. To make it worse our order was placed before we left our house for pick up. I'm sure they gave us gorditas that had been sitting there for a while before we even olaced our order. This is the last time we spend any...
