Let me start with saying that we've eaten at FDK numerous times over the years for breakfast and have loved it each time. Today was the first time we went in for lunch and it was a completely different experience.

Upon just walking in and hearing the wait staff speak with the kitchen staff there was clearly a substantial breakdown in communication. Orders just sitting waiting to be picked up, orders being returned because they didn't have "xy or z". That should have been enough for us to realize they were having an off day, but we stayed. I ordered a beer and didn't receive it for about 20min. Which is the same time our food arrived. I got the meddi-dilla and that was supposed to come with their coleslaw, pickles and a side of sour cream. I asked our server about the aforementioned and she told me it didn't come with any of that, but she would put the order in. I watched the sour cream get out into a dish and sit on the counter for about 15min. She came over to check on us and bring the ketchup we had asked for when the food was delivered. She asked about the sour cream and if I had gotten it, I explained that I hadn't. There was then an excuse as to why it was not brought over. FDK has been much much busier than today and they functioned flawlessly. The quality of the burger was good, the meddi-dilla was okay. Pork was very dry.

This definitely is not their norm, however I'll probably give it a couple months...

What a gem! So delighted to find this happening little space. It’s always a huge plus when the owner is busting it in the kitchen, and this guy was rocking it solo with just a dishwasher. Great vibes from the staff and you can tell by the decor that these people just know how to have a good time. Corned beef hash seemed to be started out boiled dinner style, as the potatoes were soft and delicious with flavors of beef! It’s always a real treat when you order hash and you’re not presented with a pile of dog food. The Captain’s French Toast was a fun, tasty rendition of a classic. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect. The Perro Gordo was a very well done version of huevos rancheros. Homemade salsa was on point and you can never go wrong adding chorizo to this breakfast classic. You can tell the owner cares about his craft, as you can taste it in every bite. The server was mobbed, but did an outstanding job of checking on us and making sure our coffees stayed full. Food or service didn’t suffer one bit on a busy Saturday. Overall an outstanding first experience and I can’t wait to...

Fat dog is a MUST when in Dover for brunch or breakfast. It is a small restaurant with both indoor and some outdoor seating. Seating is first come, first serve, and you'll want to catch someone at the counter to be seated or get on the list. Specials in many restaurants can be hit or miss, especially for breakfast, but at Fat Dog, they are a must for at least one in your party. The second must is their cream cheese cinnamon rolls, which tend to sell out fast. On this day, 2 of our 3 party got the southwest brunch bowl with poblano, black beans, home fries, 2 poached eggs, crispy onion straws, cheddar jack, and chorizo with chipotle sauce and avocado crema. The last of our party got the Mifflin, a maple hollandaise over poached egg and BBQ pulled pork all on top of a waffle with home fries on the side. Simply amazing! Fat Dog is a must for the start of your adventure day as well as entertaining out of towners. If you don't have time to sit you can also order to go!
